Clinton choose Tim Kaine as Running Mate.

Another Ivy League lawyer.....because of course.

Hillary Clinton selects Tim Kaine as her running mate - CNNPolitics.com

Thoughts? Particularly in the realm of the Democratic Party shifting more to the center with a moderate pick instead of moving leftward as many more progressive members were hoping for.

Not surprising. The Clinton's have always been moderate/centrists....despite the right-wing propaganda machine trying to paint them as "liberals". I would have preferred someone else...but this is not unexpected.

betraying the left by clintons is never unexpected.

I think the left felt betrayed by Obama on a lot of environmental, immigration issues and the ACA, as well. As far as the left is concerned...he compromised too much. That puts him in the Populist camp right along with the Clintons...imo.

I don't know that I would go so far as to say "Betraying" the left....but as a leftist, I've never been a Huge fan of the Clintons. I supported and will continue to support Hilary because I recognize the national electorate and I am realistic in what we can achieve at this point....but I am always hopeful that this country will become more progressive.

Anyone on the left shouldn't have felt betrayed...if they followed politics. We knew what we were getting with Obama. Obama is a left-leaning moderate....always has been. I think some were optimistic...but know one should be surprised that Obama governed from the center.

A somewhat moderate pick is welcome news for folks like me, but I am uncertain if it will pay off.

Liberals like Hillary always made me somewhat uneasy, but this helps in lessening the race to the bottom currently getting underway in the Democratic Party.

People saw and heard what they wanted to hear from Obama. But you're right...if they were paying attention they would've heard him say several times in his 2007-08 campaign that he was going to "reach across the aisle.' He called himself a "pragmatist" from the very start. So it didn't really surprise me when he compromised on off shore drilling, deportations, healthcare insurance, the Iraq military pullout, etc....but I know a lot of people that it did.
