The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 70% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the U.S. government should encourage increased oil and gas production to reduce America’s dependence on foreign sources of oil and gas. Only 18% oppose a policy of encouraging U.S. energy independence, while 12% are not sure.

As I've brilliantly and famously stated many tims." Socialism ( or any collectivism) fails for the same reason capitalism succeeds.People act in their self interest. ". Oh they may talk a good game about sacrificing for the common good, but when push comes to shove ,people act in self interest." I want cheap gas and oil"
Facts of life> conservative.

Well, we can take this opportunity or we won't. Oil will only last so long, then what? Drilling here is a bit like lipstick on a pig, doesn't change the fact that eventually we will need a new energy source.

This is a good time.

Even Nazi NASA has realised that the Maunder Solar Minimum is going to wreck that Hoax as well .

No wonder they provoked Russia when they needed to deflect away from the Covid and Climate scams .

And the democrats in congress are now finding themselves in a position where they must now jump on the fossil fuels bandwagon or face massive defeat in November.

Between untapped oil fields and coal shale, we have enough oil that we can produce it for at least the next 500 years. Alternate energy sources will come on line, long before then. Oil is not going to run out.

With respect, the supply of fossil fuels is so great that for any intent and purpose, it is unending.

It will be replaced by alternative sources when batteries become cheap enough with storage great enough to overcome their current limitations.

It will happen and the ime line seems to be getting shorter with every passing day.

Until then, efforts to make fossil fuels more expensive are hurting the poor more than anyone.

The transition will occur naturally and with no huge government mandate in a very short period of time. My guess? About 50 years.

Until then, we need to ask the question, "WHY are the Green Nazis so committed to punishing everybody they can punish with no good reason and with no demonstrated benefit to anyone?"

Especially right now as filling the gas tank in the family jalopy can cost as much as $110.00 and a trip to the grocery store is not at least a third more expensive. Perhaps the democrats will get the message in November.

This is the point of my post. What you posted is the message you would expect from Democrats but you aren't hearing it.

Technically you are correct , I guess, since "many "is an amorphous term which could mean anything. So the 18% mentioned in the poll could be defined as 'many"
But I'd phrase it differently. "The overwhelming majority favor increased production".

What other message would a progressive give? We're "progressive." There are new forms of energy that are cleaner, and a better investment which will create the jobs of the future. So forward I go. I don't think there won't be problems with it, but I have faith we'll fix those problems.

I'm not saying we have to stop one to use the other either. It should be gradual. It's about moving in the same direction with the rest of the planet. Why not? Why are the republicans digressing? What benefit would we have from doing this. It puts us in danger of losing our standing in the world, and being more on par with Brazil or Mexico, than European countries.

That's too bad. I'm not, but if that's the direction I'd rather change party then convictions. I usually spend part of the year in Europe, so I have a bit of a different perspective. America seems to have more of that Yo-Yo personality.

which means squat
Oh it means plenty.
Like all politicians, Democrats' primary objective is winning elections. When they see polls like this they react accordingly, which means 'climate crisis' goes out the window and cheaper gas comes in.

Why did you amputate a shred of a thought and present it as if it was the whole thought?

It looks like the shift to carbon neutral fuels is already happening.
Exxon Baytown is setting up the basic components as we type.
Low-carbon hydrogen: Fueling our Baytown facilities and our net-zero ambition
First, using hydrogen to fuel our olefins plant at Baytown could reduce site-wide CO2 emissions by up to 30% compared to current operations.
Olefins are normally extracted from oil, to then assemble into liquid fuel products.
Making the olefins from hydrogen and captured CO2, is the first step on the path to making completely
carbon neutral hydrocarbon fuels, and a sustainable energy future.

Whatever the Democrats did in the 2020 election, it worked.
You can be sure that they have been working to fix any short-
comings in that effort so that their "win" will extend to more
than just the national election this coming November.

If the Republicans expect to have a real election they only
have a few months to fix the shortcomings manufactured by
the Democrats. As near as I can tell they haven't done anything.
Coming up with the dopey "Lets Go Brandon" nonsense isn't a
strategy that will translate into winning elections.

I think the events in Europe merely exacerbated the hollowness of the whole green movement. Anyone with a brain will tell you that green energy can never truly replace fossil fuels.
