Climate Change Could Make Parts of Middle East Uninhabitable

Climate change may render parts of the Middle East -- now home to over 500 million people -- too hot for humans, according to a new study....

We can expect Water Wars throughout the Middle East.

Presently; two-thirds of the globe face water shortages.

In Canada, there is concerns or suspicions that the U.S. will demand Diversion of Great Lakes water to California.

I wonder about area that are uninhabitable now that will be habitable in the future do to global warming.

You mean like, Canada?

YEA! **** those scientists and their "studies!" It's not like they are experts or anything!

Exactly! **** those "scientists", and their agenda driven, failed predictions.

From the OP:

The researchers created two models -- one in which global temperatures are capped by reductions in greenhouse gases, and another, a “business as usual” model where nothing is done to stem climate change.Under both scenarios, the future of the region is not good, they say, adding that “climate change can result in a significant deterioration of living conditions for people living in North Africa and the Middle East, and consequently, sooner or later, many people may have to leave the region.”

Seems like the region is screwed either way according to their models, but they continue undaunted, claiming that climate change "can result in significant deterioration..." WTF?

April 28, 1975- “There are ominous signs that Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically….The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it….The central fact is that…the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down…If the climate change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic.”

The critical difference is the rate and amount of change. If climate change is not managed, then the amount of deterioration will become so significant, so quickly, that these areas (which are massive by the way) will become inhabitable.

That is indeed what the ****.

This is a fave...
1990 Michael Oppenheimer: “By 1995, the greenhouse effect would be desolating the heartlands of North America and Eurasia with horrific drought, causing crop failures and food riots…”By 1996 The Platte River of Nebraska would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates, strip paint from houses and shut down computers…The Mexican police will round up illegal American migrants surging into Mexico seeking work as field hands.”

At the time that you cite (more than 40 years ago by the way), the amount of climatologists who predicted that the Earth would start cooling was about one in seven. Want to take a guess what the proportions are today?

Also, seriously - **** THIS WEAK ASS POINT - Why in the wholly **** should we care about predictions made 40 years ago from a scientific field that was in its infancy before the existence of the internet, satellites, and when the combined computing power of every computer in existence at that time was less than what is contained in my cell phone?

Oppenheimer told FoxNews.com that he was trying to illustrate one possible outcome of failing to curb emissions, not making a specific prediction. He added that the gist of his story had in fact come true, even if the events had not occurred in the U.S.

"On the whole I would stand by these predictions -- not predictions, sorry, scenarios -- as having at least in a general way actually come true," he said. "There's been extensive drought, devastating drought, in significant parts of the world. The fraction of the world that's in drought has increased over that period."

What's wrong with that?

Thats some quick thinking there. On the plus side, they have had LOTS of opportunities to practice excuses as to why their dire climate predictions have constantly failed.

But...you know...as long as they are 'experts'....

Perhaps you could reveal the content of the models to substantiate your suppositions, then. If they are to become uninhabitable either way, perhaps you can put a real number on something somewhere somehow. That would be, ah, refreshingly scientific.

That would be scenarios, rather than predictions. The predictions didn't work out, but, but the scenarios, the scenarios are different. They aren't predictions. See?

Yeah that got my attention too.
Sounds like another terminology change like global warming to climate change.

Nowhere in Canada does this concern/suspicion exist. In fact, a couple of decades ago, the Canadian and American governments were in discussions about the US building pipelines from Canada to the southwest US to carry fresh water. Canada has the world's largest reserves of freshwater and in no way are those reserves in jeopardy.
