As a longtime baseball fan, it will take some getting used to, but I’m glad they have decided to change the team name. I don’t know enough about Cleveland to know what particular meaning the name “Guardians” has to do with the city, other than the reference to the statue outside the stadium in the article.

Interesting. Cleveland's baseball team has plenty of former names, but I guess the "Cleveland Naps" didn't work.

Wonder if they'll keep their drummer next year.

Counting down to Antifa rioting while demanding the city of Cleveland tear down the Guardians statues for looking somewhat Native American.

To bad Colorado already has the Rockies, that would have been fun for Cleveland.

You're not supposed to actually do what you've been predicted to do, j. That's just not how you pwn the libtards.

YES. omg much better than “Guardians”. I mean, cmon. It’s baseball with those silly pajama uniforms. The names should never be dramatic.

Sounds fine.

I am a Tribe fan, and I feel this was the right move.
We probably shouldn't be using races/ethnicities as sports team names/logos.

I still have my Chief Wahoo gear of course, but have no qualms with the name change.

PLAY BALL!!!

I found this:
That still doesn't help me really . . been to Cleveland a bunch but not familiar with this/history. Maybe its a big deal to cleveanders?

My guess it doesn't. The video makes the association between the new name and what it represents, but it's an abstract connection; you can say that about any group of people and their city. I'm not a fan of the new logo:

The new font is nice:

The Cleveland EEries would have worked for me. A spooky name they could get lots of mileage out of, and the name of both the local tribe, and the Great Lake they abut.

Someday there will probably be a world war initially caused by something related to ball throwing.

I found this and already commented on it. It does nothing for me but maybe its important to Clevelander's?
