How much more pushing do you think the American public will put up with before there are serious civil unrest situations, like the airport security situations now only worse? What would the government do if there was the kind of civil unrest that's going on in Europe with riots, vandalism and car burnings? If someone was in charge who "never let a good crisis go to waste" he might impose some strict form of marshal law. Maybe he would force people to turn in weapons "for the good of the community". It would only be temperary, of course, but a Marxist could sieze a lot of control for himself at that time, don't you think?

If they are ever stupid enough to take ESPN off the air and slap a heavy tax on beer, they could be in serious trouble, yes.

I doubt there ever would be until the basics become hard to find. There might be some angry demographics, as there always are, but I don't think there will be a revolt until people go hungry.

Riots in Europe are caused by either massive cuts to welfare, in the case of the French, or the increase in the average price of tertiary education in the case of the British. And a Marxist taking control? That's about as likely as peace in tge Middle East so I wouldn't be so concerned about that. If any "crisis" should emerge, the causes would be that either the government (both federal and state) aren't doing enough to help those who have nothing thanks to the financial crisis or something else. In which case, this should easily be crushed by deployments of the National Guard.

I was in the Los Angeles area in '65 during the Watts riots. I was back living in Milwaukee in the summer of '67 for those riots. Riots break out in cities whenever someone's sports team loses, or even if they win, for that matter. You can bet your butt riots will break out. The ex-Green Jobs czar, self proclaimed Communist Van Jones, is calling for people to riot in the streets. Obama wants riots. They kept trying to paint the Tea Party members as "violent" but that became too absurd for even those commies to keep repeating. I don't see senior citizens in lawn chairs going out and turning over cars, do you? They're going to have to manufacture theirown riots, but manufacture they will.

I'd seriously doubt that would happen. For one thing, why would the President want to create riots? That would be illogical and threaten his his grip on power. Secondly, right wing groups are just as likely to create chaos as left wing groups. The Tea Party hasn't actually done anything as such but neither have the left wing groups. Thirdly, senior citizens are probably the most unlikely group of people to join the Tea Party. They can be conservative, but not as right wing as them.

I would lead the revolution against the taking away of ESPN.

Perhaps after the first terrorist stashes explosives up his bum and the TSA expects us to submit to cavity searches to board planes.

I don't see riots. The only serious riots I remember have been race related; and, sad to say, led and executed by people who had nothing much to lose. Today, everybody's got something to lose. Even our poor are taken care of . . . no riots. Just discontent.

You've been listening to too much main stream media. The tea party is not that far right and yes, senior citizens are a big part of it.

The Tea Party tends to take on the role of a bogeyman, designed to fit whoever the speaker is angry at.

Someone claims that the tea party is full of dumb and poor people who hate senior citizens. If you respond by pointing out that the tea party is older, wealthier and more educated than the average person, they'll just turn around and criticize the tea party for being a bunch of rich old people.

What better opportunity does a despot have to seize more control than when a riot breaks out? He can increase his grip on control. What were all you liberals screaming about when Bush enacted the Patriot Act on wire tapping after 9-11? Are you that naive? You don't think labor unions are violent? How about this quote from the National Socialists about labor unions?

a comment at a National Socialist strategy session: “The labor movement has this old saying, if you can’t open their minds then, you open their heads.’”
That doesn't sound so warm and fuzzy now does it? What planet are you from Polly Anna?

The irrational paranoia and outright disingenuous speculation in this thread perfectly illustrates the downward slide of America into the abyss. And some are greasing the skids to hasten us over the edge. You have to wonder what they have to gain by it and what their end game is?

Why would there be riots about the airport security situation when it is only an extremely vocal minority protesting them and polls have found that the majority of Americans don't mind the full-body scanners?
