The CIA’s inspector general has accidentally deleted its only copy of a controversial Senate report about the agency’s history of brutal interrogation techniques, opening a new front in the long battle over the document.Like many federal agencies across Washington, the spy agency watchdog was handed a copy of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s full, 6,700-page report about the CIA’s former methods shortly after it was completed. The full version of the report remains classified, however a 500-page executive summary was released to the public in late 2014.

But at some point last summer, both the electronic copy and a hard disk were wiped clean, the watchdog told Congress.
Acting inspector general Christopher Sharpley uploaded the report to the office's internal computer network and then destroyed the hard disk, apparently following standard protocol, the news outlet reported. Then, someone else in the watchdog’s office reportedly misinterpreted instructions from the Justice Department not to open the file and deleted it from the server.

"Accidentally destroyed" Yea right it was "accidentally destroyed"...

Totally believable, without question, I completely buy into the story...

Brought to us by he most open and transparent president ever!

Ah you must have been a gymnast when younger. You sure can twist!

I truly believe President Obama is not behind this CIA sweeping of BushII era torture tactics. This is the CIA taking care of itself- nothing more... :peace

Well, sure, but the Obama administration has proven that destroying evidence is no big deal.

But then the alternative is that something in the report hurts the Democrats narrative on the efficacy of "enhanced interrogation".

Let me give you a secret.Your president is controlled by CIA,not CIA is controlled by your president

And now we know the Jason Bourne movies have made it to Turkey.

I understand the Middle east.that is enough !you all know what I mean

America isn't the Middle East; what happens there isn't parallel to what happens in America

No, I don't know what you mean. Maybe you think that the narrative of US in the Middle East as told in Turkey is both accurate and widely known? I am doubting that you know as much as you think you know.

More gymnastics...

The BushII administration showed us lying and destroying evidence was no big deal... long term memory eludes some when it suits... ;)

I seriously doubt the CIA would destroy all evidence of torture working... a CYA no-no.

Nice spin but alas as believable as abu ghraib was just a few junior enlisted acting foolish... :peace

No long term memory loss, it's just that every time a FOIA request goes out to the Obama administration the computers at that agency explode... or were hidden in officials basement ... and exploded after detection.

I'm not saying I believe the CIA story anymore than the others, it just happens way too often in this administation.

Translation- I don't care what the rabid right does- I wanna beat my favorite dead horse and ignore what doesn't fit my blindered world view...

You double down by saying this isn't an example- just wanted to beat your dead horse and ignore the topic... :peace

Destruction of evidence is the topic... frequently with the Obama administration.

Also, you don't translate well at all but you make stunning straw men.

No, the US government is the one that controls the CIA.

Well, let's peruse that. A new pres comes in and meets with the existing CIA guy because he wants to make some changes. He talks to the Director and voices his concerns. The Director says "We'll get rignt on it." A few months later the Director tells the newbie pres that he has a panel of his blue ribbon experts reviewing and drafting proposals. A few months later the Director makes an appointment with "Newbie Pres" and brings a 900 page paper synopsis of his review committees review and the questions that the review brought forward. So far, lots of talk, no changes. The pres sends the 900 page synopsis to his current reader and analyst. A month of so later, said analyst presents his interpretation of the 900 page synopsis. The pres makes an appointment in a few months with the Director and presents his viewpoint on the synopsis and his analysts questions and the questions raised originally by the synopsis. The Director says, "Now we're getting somewhere," and can take this new meat back to his blue ribbon group and resolve the ambiguities. So far, lots of talk, no changes. Months go by and the Director makes an appointment with said "Newbie Pres" to update the review process. A new document, only 300 pages long, and certified a blue ribbon work demonstrates the absolute efficiency of the process and the pres refers this to the analyst for interpretation and de-bugging. A few months later said analyst briefs the pres on the blue ribbon work and it's just a few months away from bouncing this off the Director's experiental backboard and a further blue ribbon review. Progress, or the lack thereof. So far, lots of talk, no changes. A few more trips back and forth and even forth and back and the blue ribbons and the Director have the proposals narrowed down, however it is now a new election season, ergo not too much access to pres because very busy working to keep his job. Back burner with most changes, well, except that the ladies room flush toilet handles in the CIA building will be replaced with brass handles instead of the chrome plated handles. So far, lots of talk, new flush toilet handles, no changes. This is known as bureaucracy or an Intelligent Agency using same to not make change. Hmmm, who's in charge?

Translation- I don't want to talk about other administrations and the 'missing 18 1/2 minutes' old reference of destroyed evidence during the Nixon administration. I only want to beat my dead horse...

the CIA destroying evidence on torture is the topic- that a few on the right want to make it about everything Obama is the strawman...

nice try though... :peace
