NBC's Chuck Todd at the beginning of "Meet the Press" on Sunday said that his show is "not going to give time to climate deniers" before hosting an hourlong panel with lawmakers and experts about the consequences of climate change.
"This morning, we’re going to do something that we don’t often get to do: dive in on one topic,” Todd said after showing video clips of dramatic weather incidents in the last year. He continued that climate change is “a literally earth-changing subject that doesn’t get talked about this thoroughly, at least on television news."
...
Todd on Sunday said that his show would not not "confuse weather with climate."
The climate panel included multiple scientists and experts, as well as potential presidential contender Michael Bloomberg, climate activist California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) and Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.).

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen ... outside of college campuses you don't often get such in-your-face proud boasting about censorship ... complete with its own self-contradictions (bolded).

If Chuck Todd says "We’re not going to debate climate change, the existence of it. The earth is getting hotter and human activity is a major cause, period."
"We’re not going to give time to climate deniers,"..."The science is settled even if political opinion is not." and Bloomberg and Jerry Brown said so ... who are we to argue.

Ironic. Chuck Todd doesn't know enough about climate science to call it settled, but political opinion is what's settled for him.

To be honest about it, nobody has ever accused Todd of being fair and balanced.

But isn't it refreshing to finally hear them take such pride in something they used to deny?

While it's a start, we also have to purge all Trump sycophants who are paid by him and have signed NDAs. They have no right spouting things they do not truly believe.

I watched this program and kept waiting for their fix since everyone on the program said something needs to be done immediately!!
Guess what the fix is? A TAX

I think it's disturbing that the likes of Todd will remove their dishonest mask and show their true bias. It means they know that their useful idiots either don't care or have been so completely propagandized by the bias they are lost as thinking beings.

If there were a downside to openly showing their bias, they would keep their mask on.

Climate change denialism is a farce and Chuck is correct, even if in the political world people want to continue to wrangle over it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

Right wing America is the only sizeable group in the world that denies climate change, they’ve been fed that propaganda for so long it’s engrainedand nothing penetrates it.

Chuck Todd is not afraid to announce to the world that he is stuck on scientifically stupid. What sort of moron keeps sucking up and spitting back out fake science propaganda without question?

Climate-change deniers are on a scientific par with flat-earthers.

Good for Chuck Todd for not legitimizing such gut-feeling viewpoints.

Is this the Chuck Todd who masquerades as a journalist on NBC...... is and always has been a talking head operative for the Democratic Party? One of my favorite clips of Chucky is during election night meltdown in 2016. He kept going to the big board frantically trying to find votes that may still be found in certain counties for Hillary desperately hoping till the very end. I don't watch his show Meet the Depressed.

What sort of moron believes the world is only 6000 years old?

The leading scientific proponents of an alternative climate hypothesis (solar/GCR flux) are neither American nor right wing.

Yes it's such a terrible thing to have a bias towards science and facts isn't it?

You're still beating that dead-horse. Leave the poor thing alone.

From the Unsettled Science Department:

There have been many new scientific papers published that document the observed lack of any detectable global trends in the Earth’s hydrological cycle during the last century, or since anthropogenic CO2 emissions began rising dramatically.
Without water vapor-induced temperature amplification, the model-based consequence of doubling CO2 concentrations to 560 ppm (from the pre-industrial 280 ppm value) is a warming of just over 1°C. This temperature change is neither dangerous or even concerning.
Simply put, the lack of supporting evidence for an anthropogenic intensification of the hydrological cycle effectively decimates a cornerstone of the dangerous anthropogenic global warming narrative.

[h=3]No AGW Changes To Hydrological Cycle Detectable[/h]
Nguyen et al., 2018
[h=6]Little dispute surrounds the observed global temperature changes over the past decades. As a result, there is widespread agreement that a corresponding response in the global hydrologic cycle must exist. However, exactly how such a response manifests remains unsettled. Here we use a unique recently developed long-term satellite-based record to assess changes in precipitation across spatial scales. … Our results show opposing trends at different scales, highlighting the importance of spatial scale in trend analysis. Furthermore, while the increasing global temperature trend is apparent in observations, the same cannot be said for the global precipitation trend according to the high-resolution dataset, PERSIANN-CDR, used in this study.”[/h][h=6]“Figure 2 shows the changes in precipitation volume over oceans and continents during the past 3 decades. As shown in Figs. 2b and 2c, fluctuations are present in the total amount of precipitation that has fallen over land and ocean; however, no significant long-term volumetric change is observed for either case.”[/h][h=6]“As shown, the warm temperate regions in North America and East Asia, as well as the equatorial regions in Africa, have been experiencing statistically significant negative trends in their mean annual precipitation. On the contrary, arid regions over Africa are observing a positive precipitation trend. In general, warm temperate climate regions have decreasing trends while arid and polar climate regions have increasing trends in precipitation. Africa shows the clearest precipitation trends according to climate zones, where arid regions have a significant increase and the equatorial region has a significant decreasing trend. … Figure 5 shows the precipitation trends over 237 global major basins. Globally, 20 basins have significant increasing trends and 20 basins have significant decreasing trends in precipitation.”[/h][h=6]The take-home message from our study using the new 33+ years [1983-2015]of high-resolution global precipitation dataset is that there seems not to be any detectable and significant positive trends in the amount of global precipitation due to the now well-established increasing global temperature. While there are regional trends, there is no evidence of increase in precipitation at the global scale in response to the observed global warrming.”[/h]

The transition to cranky uncle-hood was rapid and startling. My family and friends at first seemed to accept my lukewarmer status–someone who accepts the science underpinning our understanding of climate change but is skeptical of the more alarmed pronouncements issuing forth from NGOs, politicians and their adherents in the press and blogosphere. But after the … Continue readin

Well apparently the 1st step was to shut people up. But we already knew that.

There are plenty of them around. Anyone who says 'The science is settled" is either the propagandist or sucking up.

You know this ... how? Because they said so. That ain't science.
Good for Chuck Todd for not legitimizing such gut-feeling viewpoints.
And protecting his job at NBC. I'm not suggesting he hasn't decided to believe in warming alarmism, I'm suggesting he doesn't actually know enough about it to make that decision.

i can see an argument for this. the science which shows that a CO2 blanket affects the climate and that we are producing a whole ****load of it isn't really up for debate. also, you sort of have to know your audience. the deniers watch Fox, not NBC. let them go on Fox with their bull****.

i've been thinking about this where NPR is concerned, too. they interview Trumpists a lot, and i have to turn the radio off for like three minutes. i don't like listening to them spew half assed lies on legitimate media. that's what fox is for. do it there.

Good. Too often the media thinks it has to give equal presentation between an actual scientist and some rambling lawyer from a “pro-business” think tank. When you do that, it gives a false impression that these people are on equal footing.

You have a point. AFAIK, no AGW advocate has been an IBM Einstein Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, as has Nir Shaviv.

How many times has he been on TV opposite a lawyer or politician when discussing science?
