This is so shocking to hear from a Democrat that I wonder if hes being sarcastic. Is his message really praising Democrats for doing what was "right" instead of what was political? Beyond all that he makes some great points. Most healthcare spending is by govt programs already, the rest through employers where they dont pay alot. So the ACA didnt help very many people, and those people dont even vote. And this was all at a time when the focus should have been on jobs and economic growth, financial stability, not new and bigger govt socialism.
The same might be said if immigration now. Why is politics focused on something which will help very few people, at a time when security, debt, deficits, spending, taxes, are more important? And this is confirmed in polling. Voters dont want amnesty, and they dont care about immigration as much as they care about govt taxing and spending, and regulation.
Why would I, as an investor, do anything to improve wages? If you want to earn more money then you go get the skills you need to be worth more. The only person's wages I am obligated to improve are my own.
Government is intentionally strangling job creation. It is what authoritarian states do.

If the Republican congress concentrates on what the voters want, improving the economy. If they do not get caught up in the immigration trap set by the president, that could be another nail in the coffin for the Democrats come 2016. The voters voiced their displeasure earlier this month with Democrats not concentrating on the economy, that was confirmed in all the exist polls. But to take advantage of the voters wishes, more attention needs to be on the economy and not reversing Obama's EO on immigration. His EO only reinforces the mood in the peoples minds that the Democrats are not interested in improving the economy, the number issue in the voters minds this last election.

Didn't you have a poll on what people thought of the ACA and its results from the Election? Or a few of them that validated the issue for the elections? As we know Schumer didn't miss that all the Repubs across the country were talking about BO's special package and running against it.
Since the ACA's initial passage it has hung around the necks of Democrats like a millstone. When more than 50% of all Americans are against it, it is a great campaign issue for the GOP. The only time the Democrats won an election was 2012 when those opposed the ACA was below 50% and its support was at its highest:

my reference to better wages and more jobs was taken directly from schmuck schumer's statement where he is castigating the president for effecting Obamacare in lieu of addressing those other issues
and allow me again point out that i can find nothing that schumer has done himself to address those other issues as a member of the nation's senate, which issues schumer found more essential to address than Obamacare

Another thing is.....what about the Demos that Right before the Election were out with Repair and Improve BO care? I think Manchin was one of them.
So even before the Election, Demos were splitting over the matter.

It is amazing to watch how quickly the left will throw one of their own under the bus if they step out of party line for even a second. Yeah, Schumer, the commie darling, is a "representative of wall street". HA! Good one.
What I think Schummer admitted to was the people elected Obama and the Democrats to fix the economy back in 2008. The people were fixated on the economy, not healthcare. When he and the Democrats took their eyes off the economy to concentrate on healthcare, that is not what the majority of the people wanted. He never said the ACA was a bad thing, he said it was good and needed which I disagree with him. But it wasn't what the people wanted at the time. Then 2010 happened, a complete shock to Obama and the Democrats.
I have been saying the same thing for years. 2010 happened because the Democrats ignored the wishes of the people. Now if one looks at the exit polls for the 2014 election, the voters are saying the same thing, its the economy stupid. 45% of them said the economy was their number one issue, 78% of the voters said they are worried about their and the nation's financial future.
No brainier right? But what is the first thing the president does even though I am sure he knew what was foremost on the minds of the voters, immigration reform. Bad move? Maybe.
If the new Republican congress concentrate on the removal of his immigration EO and take their attention off the economy, then this may have been a good move. But if the new Republican congress doesn't, if they concentrate on passing bills dealing with the economy, then the president and the Democrats may rue the day. So the ball is now in the Republican's court. My opinion.
I agree that the Atlantic is a great cure for Democrats. Shovel them all in.
He got sidetracked into doing a political agenda instead of what the people elected him to do in the first place. First it cost him the House, then it cost him the senate. This is what happens at times when those whom the people elect fail to listed to those who voted for them.

But it wasn’t the change we were hired to make; Americans were crying out for an end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs; not for changes in their health care. This makes sense considering that 85 percent of all Americans got their health care from either the government – Medicare or Medicaid – or their employer. And if health care costs were going up, it didn’t really affect them.
So you don't like Schumer? He represents Wall Street? Wow.
I don't like Schumer. I have never liked him. I have never said I liked him. I agree with Bubba's comment regarding Schumer. First and foremost, Chuck Schumer has always been a strong supporter of Chuck Schumer. Beyond that he does what Big Money tells him to do. Big Money/Wall Street owns Washington, both ruling parties. That is a surprise to you?
