I think that was the Jewish God. Jesus, who Christians are told is God told people to turn the other cheek and treat their neighbors as they wish to be treated.

I will attempot to treat you as a mature individual which is beyond what your present behavior from thread to thread has implied....

Religious people come in Republican and Democratic form. Christians are Liberal and Conservative. Both groups of people readily agree that scriptures in the Old Testament are harsh as is the scriptures written in other religious books. We can go further with this and discuss the New Testament, Jesus Christ, and the birth of Christianity from pacifist roots, but I don't feel you are interested in intelligent engagment and I certainly believe this is more personal issue with you than a general interest. Such accusations based on exceptional human written verses from ages ago in a different time (which you haven't produced, but I will assume you know a little about what the hell you are stating) are worthless.

Do you have a point to your seemingly senseless behavior?

Why does yahweh got called the jewish god when anything nasty is mentioned also isnt jesus one and the same technically with yahweh.


But also if jesus didnt follow the scriptures of the old testiment why should christians follow the new testiment

But I would simplify it by stating that man had so twisted the word of God in print that Jesus was sent to portray a life as God wishes us to lead. Christianity was born out of Jesus, not the Old Testament.

Of course, those individuals that are as biggotted towards religion as some individuals are religiously biggotted towards other religions really don't care about enlightenment or understanding. The act of bashing and persecuting a religion is their only need.

As a non-believer I have asked myself this same question. However, when debating the forward thinking of one religion over another, I think that christianity has always proved the most flexible and tolerant than most of the other major players. Don't let the far right of christianity hi-jack your views of what is wholly, a peaceful religion. I may not practice any religion of my own, but I do not put down other people for having faith, and believing what they want to as long as they practice their beliefs in a peaceful manner. Theocracies should be a thing of the past.
 
IMO, all, or most, religions incite violence and hatred, and preach it, too.

Sometimes I think the world would be a better place without religion...
 
Without one supporting statement from scripture, you are all discussing this as if the OP is actually true. Shame on you!! Where are the supporting statements that show God supports rape, genocide, slavery, hate crimes...

I'll tell you the same thing I tell conservative Christians when THEY are making outrageous statements about God...just because an action is described in the bible does NOT mean God commanded, supports, or endorses said action.
