Definitely seeing some advocacy for drug use. In fact, it's coming off almost peer pressure-ish (which personally never worked on me in school). So, what are your thoughts on the choice to not to use recreational drugs?

It's a personal decision. There are pros and cons. And certainly, refraining from drug use is better than succumbing to addiction.

I've noticed that people are awfully hypocritical about this, using recreational drugs themselves but condemning others for using different drugs.

Oddly, I'm seeing near condemnation, right now, for not engaging in drug use.

I've gotten a lot of **** in my life from former girlfriends over the fact that I don't enjoy kinky sex. I feel much the same way about that.

I said no to drugs, but they didn't listen.

Only idiots use drugs. If you have to smoke, snort, ingest or imbibe some illicit substance to feel good about yourself, you're a loser.

Thanks for that Vik. I was wondering....

i have engaged in LSD and shroom use for the same reasons I have drank Scotch, smoked cigars, scuba dived, sky dived, read books, and watched movies. While I don't NEED to do any of those things, and go months or even years without, when I do it it is because I enjoy it.

Not doing drugs in a good thing. Meth and cocaine and heroin should excised from the earth in my view, but a lot of the other stuff is okay. I don't think that looking down on those who use recreationally is any better than said people calling you weak and silly for not doing them.

You should be specific. Most "recreational" drugs are illegal for good reasons. It's taken some time before states are now recognizing marijuana is less harmful than alcohol.

Are you including alcohol as a recreational drug?

What is it's not about "feeling good about yourself?"

I take it you never drink coffer, beer, or wine. Never smoke cigarettes, etc.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard mushrooms are legal. Just illegal to sell.

Agreed. There are drugs out there that should be totally banned, and I would be for the death penalty for those selling some the worse of them.

What? Don't you drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, or eat sugar? Don't you know it's all exactly the same? :2razz:

i've really been judged enough to not judge others for how they spend their own life. Do drugs or not, all good to me and none of my business

but i don't know how you can be so critical of someone "advocating" drugs when you wish to outright deny the choice. I mean all they're doing is giving an opinion, while you seem to approve of the gestapo tactics frequently employed by the DEA

My point to Cephus if he is against all recreational drugs...

Coffee is my only addiction. I have a burr grinder, and grind it from whole beans before I make coffee. I buy the Boyd's Rip City organic, which sets me back $11.70/lb.

I quit smoking in August of 2000.

I have a really nice collection of spirits, and I generally drink the Inversion IPA from the Dechutes Brewery Company out of Bend Oregon.

I never add sugar to anything, but I have some raw organic honey that I sometimes use. Still, I do buy products with sugar, but stay away from high fructose corn syrup when I can.

I have experimented very little with drugs in my younger days, and only because my friends had some. Never did any more than once except weed because I didn't like them. I do enjoy some bud every now and then all these years later.

Drugs are everyone's business when the abuse interferes with others. There are some bad addictive drugs out there. I'm of the same opinion with one key factor included. Do what you want if you won the lottery, or have a trust fund that allows you to destroy your body and brain, and not be a burden to society.

Drugs effect everyone differently but from my experience I have found certain drugs to provide a therapeutic release.

I only smoke weed when I'm restless and need to sleep. Puts me in a place where I can do so, without unnatural chemicals.

I have absolutely no issues with anyone using marijuana. It seems to balance out everyone I know who smokes.

Remind yourself of that quote the next time you drink a cup of coffee.

Not sure who you hang out with and/or what age range they are, but perhaps you need to get some new friends.

I work with a range of people from fresh out of college to 70 years old. I couldn't tell you who uses, or has used drugs because it never comes up.

Plenty don't drink and I'd think if anything THAT would be more the topic of peer-pressure-ish behavior, but it's not.

Hell, in this day and age with designated drivers, drug tests for work, and some people just being very much into healthy kicks I don't know of anyone who scorns anyone else simply because they don't drink or use recreational drugs.

Now if somebody is getting all "holier-than-thou" and preaching and condescending about it in one direction or the other I can see where others might speak up, but again, most mature people tend to not judge others for making simple choices about such things.

It's like judging somebody who chooses not to drink soda. I don't care if you do or don't. Why would I care if you ever smoked pot?

What kind of people are you hanging out with?
