Chinese launch first locally designed and built aircraft carrier.

Ditto.

I am not a big fan of subs.
But it looks like the pendulum is starting to swing back to submarines as the safest place to be on/under the ocean during a war.
At least for now.
Im not a military expert, but I have a feeling submarines will rule the seas if WW3 ever happens. Theyre just so stealthy now, you wont even know theyre around until they fire.

Sorry dude, grade school students don't fill job needs. It is up to the Universities. China's university system lacks greatly.

Says the guy who says:
'The US has dozens of nuclear powered ships that aren't subs or AC carriers.'

When in fact - they have ZERO combat vessels that are nuclear powered, outside of subs and Carrier's.

You talk big.
But appear to know dick.

What kind of moron thinks navy vessels are an education subject. About as stupid as saying the personal income of the Chinese worker will soon pass the income of the US worker. Now there is a guy who don't know dick.

STRAWMAN.

And watch - yet again - you will avoid answering this simple question...obviously because you are terrified that to do so will make you look TOTALLY ignorant on this subject.

I will ask you again...
Outside of the aircraft carriers and submarines, name just ONE, U.S. Navy, nuclear-powered, surface combat vessel in service at this time?

Just one?

Who'd a thought it, the king of strawman accuses others using a strawman while posting a strawman. I see you changed your question to add "at this time". So sad you can't accept the facts.

Now answer the question and tell us how the Chinese are going to exponentially grow their economy. While you are at it tell us again how the Chinese Navy is superior because they are going to develop some good stuff. I need a good laugh.

Are you blind?
I included 'at this time' every time.

:p

By continuing to grow their economy at it's present rate.
And I did not say the Chinese Navy were superior.
But they will be one day at the their (and America's) present rate of growth.
See?
I am not afraid to answer your questions...in the slightest.

I will not answer another question of yours until you answer this one question.

Wrong. The moment a submarine fires everyone and his brother knows he did.

Not as effective? Sure. Perhaps only half as effective as a U.S. carrier. Maybe.
This will not be nice but I cannot find a way to say it in a less horrid way:
That was the most ignorant showing of naval carrier understanding I have ever read on any board anywhere and I have been reading crap like this for 30 years.
However I do have a question to close: how is it that you know you know nothing about the functioning of the USN carrier yet still find yourself unable to choke the nothingness back?

What are you talking about? I've read a great great deal about U.S. carrier operations and strategy.

Nothing is safe not even submarines. They can be found with satellites and have been for some time. We learned that trick by tracking our own. There are telltales any submersed object has. Nothing is every really completely hidden.

Satellites? I just dont see how. Once a sub goes deep, there's no way a sat can find it.

Actually there is a way subs displace the water they are in and they make a slight lump for loss of a better word in the ocean surface, dont ask me the exact physics but is possible to track a submarine via satellite we have been doing it for some time. We have been able to do this with high resolution radar satellites and imaging satellites. I just know that we figured how to do it some time ago by tracking our own assets. There are limitations obviously but it is very possible.

Sorry.... being an asshole I guess. But let's look at this a different way than your magazines.
Out of nowhere I am going to pick USS John Stennis as an old baseline and we are going to to compare it to a new Chinese Carrier.
Stennis:
laid down 1991
crew 6500
that would be 23 years x 365 days per year x 24 hours per day x 6500 crew members all attending that ship.
About 1.3 billion man hours

During all that time consider the training, tuning, practicing, etc.

compare this to a brand new Chinese carrier who has a captain of just one hour tenure. You cannot compare them in the way you wish.
--------------------------------------------------
This reminds me of the F22 I worked on so long.... on the floor with specialists of all kinds (Metrology primarily for me). I said years ago that if you took out all the electronics and avionics out and gave the Russians and Chinese the one to copy they could not. The specialists with very high skill levels build those planes... not engineers on CAD stations.

You cannot compare U.S. and Chinese carriers using such stats as various things like manufacturing methods and training methods are radically different.

I was not comparing manufacturing methods for Carriers. Why do you have so much trouble with comprehension?

the f22 reminded me of the boneheads like you who can't think like you and your naval expertise

Why the F-22 has never been visualized as being used as a naval fighter?

But so ineffective that ONE U.S carrier would be as effective as FOUR of these Chinese carriers? No way. No way.
lol

Meanwhile, democrats around here have been yapping about slashing the military size and funding and why do we need all the aircraft carrier fleets that we have.

China has ONE aircraft carrier that MIGHT rival one if our ELEVEN.

There's an absolute strong argument that the size of our military has actually zero to do with national defense and everything to do with upholding a hegemonic empire.

It's not even close.
one of these Chinese carriers doesn't have to be the near equal of a U.S carrier and its battlegroup.

One of these carriers and its support ships deployed to the South China Sea would radically change U.S. strategic thinking and area U.S. naval requirements.

And just consider what a big deal it would be if one deployed the Arabian Sea region?

And 1-3 submersible drones later and it's the beginning of a new coral reef.

And India is more likely to fight against the U.S. rather than alongside us.

Since 2015 India has been a fully signed up Strategic Partner of the US to include the US armed forces having complete access to all India military bases and facilities, to include operations against a third country (Pak/China). India is a storehouse of US military equipment, supplies, assets and so on. The US Pacific Command at Pearl Harbor has had its Theater of Operations renamed and expanded to the US Indo-Pacific Command.

2015 was 7 years ago so where have you been.
