China pressured WHO to delay global coronavirus warning: report

Chinese President Xi Jinping pressured the director of the World Health Organization in January to hold off on issuing a global warning about the coronavirus outbreak, according to a report in a German newspaper.

The Jan. 21 conversation between Jinping and WHO leader Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was reported in Der Spiegel, which cited intelligence from Germany’s federal intelligence service, known as the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND).


The report published over the weekend said Xi urged the WHO chief to “delay a global warning” about the pandemic and hold back information on human-to-human transmission of the virus.


The BND estimated that China’s action to conceal information resulted in a loss of four to six weeks in the fight against COVID-19.


The WHO released a statement calling the allegations “unfounded and untrue.”

I think we should have as much of an economic divorce from China as possible and engage in a new "cold war" of sorts. We also need to more strongly oppose China's nefarious ambitions like taking over the South China Sea and illegally annexing islands that belong to other countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, etc. We also should formally recognize Taiwanese sovereignty and push for a peaceful resolution of the issue of Taiwanese sovereignty as chosen by the people of Taiwan, including formal independence with the decision to never unify with the Chinese Communist Party.

It helps when a country is able to give VOLUNTARY donations to the WHO in ADDITION to the mandated or agreed ones.Why i the hell America pays over a hundred million and China a fraction of that on a mandatory basis baffles me. BUT.......that leaves them to give lavishly on a voluntary basis, doesn't it? It is unfathomable that this agency spent 192 MILLION on travel last year alone? They have no one one watching them.

The article is wrong, look it up. Articles written on Jan 20 state China said their is human to human transmission. I posted a link to it. Why would China ask the WHO not to report human to human transmission on Jan 21, when on Jan 20 it was already known world wide. Does that make any sense to you? It does not to me
