More importantly, getting a trademark approved absolutely matters whether you are currently running your business or not. If Gucci decided to shut down tomorrow, do you think they wouldn't care if chinese sweatshops were cranking out fake Gucci bags with the Gucci logo on them? For the most part protecting her brand via trademarks was what Ivanka was doing, more so than new patents, and I don't have any problem with it.
