China’s response to the crisis has been closely watched because it is considered to have the most leverage with the unpredictable, reclusive North Korean regime. China, a veto-wielding Security Council member, is the North’s top provider of desperately needed energy and economic aid.

It is being reported that both China and Russia are against U.N. sanctions that declare NK can neither buy or sell anything related to a/its nuclear weapons program, as well. In other words, they have no problem with NK selling Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, or any other terrorist group one of their nukes!

Once again, and hopefully/possibly once and for all, the U.N. is proving its insignificance and inability to address any of the world's serious issues/problems!

Umm, what? THe UN is introducing sanctions against PDRK. They are addressing the issue, the fault for countries like China and Russia not agreeing with those sanctions do not point directly to a failing of the UN as the UN is made up more countries than just those two. Anyways, it looks like China believes that the proposed sanctions are two severe and want to address the crazy Kim Jong-Il in a way that won't make him, well, crazier:

U.N. action "should be conducive to the de-nuclearization of the Korean peninsula ... and the resumption of the talks," he told reporters. "It's necessary to express clearly to North Korea that ... the international community is opposed to this nuclear test."

This is why it's called negotiations and diplomacy and not just ultimata.

I'd like to see Japan do a Pearl Harbor number on NK.

BONZAI Mutha ******!!

Yeah, the UN is addressing the issue but they are a toothless tiger.

The UN is as useless as teats on a bore hog in my humble opinion.

China and Russia have declared that they want no limitations on NK being able to sell their nukes to anyone - including terrorists!

The Chinese rep said he does not want any harsh sanctions so that we can bring them back to the table....how long have they been at the freakin' table, breaking all their promises and deals that have gone on since Clinton's terms?!

China could give a rat's @$$ about NK's nukes because it knows NK won't be selling those nukes to anyone who wants to nuke THEM! If NOTHING ELSE, the U.N. MUST make the sanction declaring that NK can not, MUST NOT, acquire any more nuclear weapons technology from the outside and - more importantly - can not/MUST not be allowed to sell its nuclear weapons/material to anyone, to include the terrorists who would use it against Israel and the U.S. in a heartbeat!

I agree. China and Russia need to get thier heads out of their asses.

Does anyone recall the Nostradamus intrepretation regarding Russia and China teaming up against what was intrepreted to be America?

I seem to remember something about that and the three arrows of fire unleashed on the "New City" where two sucessfully hit their target and the third is a miss?

I was just wondering.....................

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???????????????

Not that I disbelieve you, but I'd love to see some articles that support your claims there.

Turn on CNN or Fox - they have been talking about it live for the better part of the morning/day.

That's the downside of having a day time job where I can only slack online.

Of course they are going to take every advantage of these talks, they are not going to pull their pants down on the first day. These two countries have the most to fear, and will eventually have to act sooner rather then later. The point is, no one wants to look like the lap dog of the U.S, but will soon have to position themselves as the "hero's of the day"

Did you honestly expect either of these countries to do anything but placate NK. The Un will do it's usual dance of doing nothing and getting nothing done. The institution is a waste of time. The agendas of the members are completely seperate and thus make it impossible for anything of meaning to get done.

China is going to allow NK as much freedom as they can bully out of the UN to sell there wears and technology to whomever has the most cash.

Yes I have, not that I put any stock in his "predictions." But if you follow the supposed John Titor hoax he claimed that Russia and China nuke several US cities in the next few years. However he claimed that the targets that were nuked were the enemies of the American patriots.

1.) China has 500 billion dollars worth of assets in the US.

2.) Russia's economy is based on support from the US.

Neither of them is going to jeopardize their personal piggybanks in such a fashion.

3.) Russia and China would be on-fire before their weapons ever hit us.
