According to FoxNews/Pravda, the war in Ukraine is raising the cost of feed. Russia felt confidant in attcking Ukraine because so many Western democracies depend on it's oil and natural gas. How many reasons do we need to get serious about renewable energy? Do we really have to be in bed with Saudi Arabia, UAE, and the rest of OPEC?

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was founded in Baghdad, Iraq, with the signing of an agreement in September 1960 by five countries namely Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. They were to become the Founder Members of the Organization.

These countries were later joined by Qatar (1961), Indonesia (1962), Libya (1962), the United Arab Emirates (1967), Algeria (1969), Nigeria (1971), Ecuador (1973), Gabon (1975), Angola (2007), Equatorial Guinea (2017) and Congo (2018).

Now it's OPEC+
  • OPEC plus countries include Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Oman, Russia, South Sudan and Sudan. Saudi and Russia, both have been at the heart of a three-year alliance of oil producers known as OPEC Plus — which now includes 11 OPEC members and 10 non-OPEC nations — that aims to shore up oil prices with production cuts.

We must reduce our dependence on oil. We already turn a blind eye to Saudi Arabia's insane system of government, religious oppression, and shameful, criminal, abusive treatment of women. Solar, electric, wind and even nuclear have to be better alternatives.
Not to mention climate change, the most important reason.

In other words, this Kentucky Burgoo recipe (with chicken, pork and beef) is going to be too expensive to cook (or eat in a restaurant).

Darn it. I really liked this dish.

it's just going to get worse as we continue to overpopulate and its impossible to keep up with demand. I do hope progress is made with the synthetic, lab grown muscle to provide meat. They would have to come up with ways to make it as good as muscle in animals

I'd imagine that that particular section of inflation will be due to grain shortages resulting from the war, riding on top of the inflation caused by oil market upheaval.

Maybe we will get an old fashioned seniors eating dog food claim dusted off in time for the election.

Putin may end up helping the world with the overpopulation issue. If the decides to use nuclear weapons, 50% of the world's population will likely die. The demand in that case, will drop.

Thank you for that cheerful thought.

That's almost as bad as some of the "The world is overpopulated" radicals saying they were happy about the COVID pandemic because it was lowering the population of the world.

Hey, I am not the one throwing the idea of using nuclear weapons. Putin is. Take it up with him.

I'm not screwed up in the head, so speaking to Putzin is out of the question.
