Chaos erupts on GOP convention floor after voice vote shuts down Never Trump forces - POLITICO

CLEVELAND — Chaos broke out at the Republican National Convention Monday after Republican leaders successfully blocked a recorded roll call vote on the convention rules.
Critics of Donald Trump had attempted to force a roll call vote by all 2,472 of the convention delegates on the proposed rules, which were written last week by a convention committee.

The groups objected to the proposed rules because they require pledged delegates to vote in accordance with the results of their state’s primaries and caucuses — a structure that virtually guarantees Trump will claim the party’s presidential nomination.

Stick a fork in the anti-trumpeteers. Should be interesting to hear which way Cruz jumps now.

Chaos? A bunch of people yelling at a political convention is chaos? Dramatic? Sure. Childish? Damn sure was. Maybe a bit chaotic for the person trying to hold the vote, but chaos? Not even close.

If, and more likely when, Bernie supporters make a little noise at the DNC will be reported as chaos or will the media change it's ternanligy to something a little softer.

The old guard is not going to let it's relevance slip away without a fight. They will fight until the last box of Depends is gone. Then they will head into the sunset in their not so graceful "cowboy walk"...

If this is chaos I wonder what the mainstream-media propaganda networks will report at the DNC..................

This is chaos, while BLM shutting down the Bay Bridge for 6 hours is "peaceful protest".

Most political insiders are concerned with only themselves.

This is exactly why Trump received the most votes to become the Republican nominee for President.

....what part of "never" is so confusing to you people?

 those are the dudes shutting down the roll call vote in favor of a voice vote so that they can override protest from the floor. The Establishment is out in full force, playing the political hardball game hard for the Orange Sun King.

Which is why they are sticking with the GOP leadership and Trump. We're getting a good acid test for who actually values their integrity and values more than the party.

The sore losers from the Establishment Whores wing of the GOP kicking up a ****storm again *shakes head*

Where was all this energy when they were trying to beat Obama in '08 and '12?

Tell them all to sit down and shut up or go home.

The business/big oil wing of the Republicans isn't going down without a fight.

And they're taking their dignity with them apparently.

This isn't chaos...

These folks have never seen Australian or South Korean political meetings.

Those out to oust Trump from the GOP "leadership" are those who want to keep their jobs. Hopefully, their days are numbered.

Trump haters still don't understand that Americans, at least conservatives, want real change. Not Hillary, not any other of the other GOP insiders who wanted the job.

That's why Trump received the most GOP primary and caucus votes in history.

With a growing population, it's only natural that Trump get the most votes ever. Then again, second to him is GWB. So it doesn't say much. What Trump really needs to worry about is having the most votes against him in GOP history.

That would make sense, if Romney was second behind Trump, but...he isn't.

Apparently this is the first convention some of you have ever seen.

My argument wasn't a comparison, it was just that it was bound to happen eventually. That said, Romney was a candidate a large percentage of the GOP didn't like for being too liberal. Trump obviously does worse in the same area. Are you willing to take those odds? I'm willing to bet a forum donation Trump will simply lose based on GOP voters who can't stand him as opposed to Romney who lost based on being wishy washy.

IOW, you just grabbed that out of thin air and posted it?

Apdst, if you think I'm wrong, I'm willing to put a forum donation on it. Say a cool $40? I think it's time we brought back DP bets to show how sure we are about political decisions.

[emoji38] who in GOP leadership are trying to oust Donald Trump? I count two junior Senators, one of whom isn't even there. :)

The myth Donald has told that somehow he is outside of Establishment political power circles of only slightly less convincing than Hillary running as an outsider because she's a woman.

Trump haters still don't understand that Americans, at least conservatives, want real change.

I'm sure they do. Unfortunately, they've been saddled with the most liberal candidate in a generation, who seems unlikely, unwilling, and uninterested in changing anything. The conservative opposition to liberal GOP Establishment Squishes? We lost.

That's why Trump received the most GOP primary and caucus votes in history.

Which, given he didn't win a majority, would mean more people opposed him than any candidate in history....
