Celebrate Diversity

A neighboring town to mine had a reputation for diversity, multiculruralism and tolerance.Than came the Christmas carol scandal. The School board had, outlawed the singing of any religious Christmas carols a few years ago.Now they were forbidding the playing of any religious music. So jingle bells was in the Messiah was out. All hell broke loose, the students thought the whole thing was stupid. The school boards actions brought ridicule and embarassment to the town. Its tolerant, multicultural reputation was gone.Ani-christian bigots is how the town was being described. The matter is still be fought.

I agree with you! I'm against school prayer and all the far right attempts to push religion in public schools, but Christmas caroles and Christmas trees are cultural and not an attempt to teach religious beliefs! If I was still teaching I'd be in front of the school board leading a protest! That's not liberal thought, it's PC stupidity by a board of education with no backbone or common sense! Not too unusual!
