CBS Poll: 8-in-10 Americans Support Reducing Immigration, Stricter Vetting

He could do what no modern day president has done; push for harsh punishments against employers of illegals.

Fines that make it more expensive to employ illegals then it does Americans.
And levy those punishments against the CEO, not the worker that hired them. 48 hours in jail for each undocumented worker hired served by the CEO or owner of the company should do the trick. We currently fine them less than the profit they make by hiring them.

8 in 10 Americans would cry if they were made to claw through the same restrictions they would impose on immigrants.

For the right-wingers here, you know how pro 2Aers are constantly bitching about how onerous and nonsensical NFA, ATF, and local blue-state gun laws are?

Immigration hoops are like that but orders of magnitude worse.

Just because something is popular doesn't make it right, and immigration restrictions are, on their face, nonsensical from a moral and economic standpoint, and filled with intellectual hypocrisy on the part of people who either had their citizenship handed to them, or whose ancestors were colonizers.

Agreed. Whatever it takes.

Let's clarify. Eight in ten breitbart consumers support reducing immigration.

No that would be the CBS Poll cited in the article.

Reading is fundamental

Breitbart LOL Come on with these bullshit lying polls.

And the borders are not open no matter how many times you right wiingers post the same stupid lies over and over again. It's not even original, its pathetic trolling at this point repeating the same stupid, factless claims

The data cited comes from a CBS Poll, Try reading the article and the associated polls.

We got ours, screw everybody else is a time honored American tradition. Meet them at the border with a smile, a job application and a path to citizenship.

The purpose of immigration is to enhance the United States, not to just anybody in who wants to come. It's a vetting process.

This appears to be the question and answers Brietbart is using to claim the 80%.

Would you say the claim represents the data correctly?

Pretty much,

Here is direct like to the CBS article.

Lol..

Does the claim, “81% of Americans support immigration” also represent the data?

Thanks for the link to article but prefer to read the actual poll questions and the answers.

Would you say the US currently has strict criteria for immigration?

A
That would be 81% support stricter immigration policies, and yes stricter vetting is supported by the polling.

And when asking if our immigration policies are already strict you must ask in comparison to which nations.

Breitbart. Dismissed.

The data sourced is a CBS Poll.

So is CBS dismissed as well, kind of an arrogant position you have there. Before you can dismiss a source you have to read the content otherwise you are an ideolog.

The source is CBS:

Where in the question they ask about stricter policies?

You supplied the article from the reich-wing hack site Breitbart. Try a better source. :)

Your opinion is noted, but not the truth.

Your opinion is noted, but not the truth.

It's not an opinion in immigration history we've always invited immigrants to meet our needs, be it to expand the nation during our early history, to bring in workers in shortage areas such as agriculture or manufacturing, those with special skills or talents. For humanitarian reason we allow asylees, refugees family reunification and relief from human trafficking and other crimes. The overwhelming point is that is aside from these allowances the VISA process is for the betterment of the United States, not just anyone who wants to come in.

Perhaps you should take a close look at the classes of VISA's and why they exist:

Where in the question they ask about stricter policies?

You cited it yourself in Question 31 " Allow some immigration, based upon strict criteria.".

Did they ask if they consider the current policies strict?

Are you attempting to talk you way around the poll results?
This is well known, but will the POTUS and his open borders buddies listen or care?

Sorry all here is the direct link per CBS:

Not, directly, but that is the nature of any poll the closed questions tend to guide the answers. The question could be posed; are the respondents interpreting the question as strict as in a strict enforcement of current law, or strict as in a stricter vetting process.

Here is just the most obvious exception to your argument.

I must have missed where Biden supported an open borders plan.

Source?

And I'm not sure about your math skills...if you believe YOUR source...does it seem like most Democrats/liberals are also for open borders? Or for relaxed immigration enforcement? Do you know what 80% means?
If you have to ask for the source then you are not paying attention to current events!!
