Latest news today is talking about a Norwegian NATO Base being attacked in Afghanistan, 'impromptu' riots in Syria resulting in Embassies being burned, and even a report that a Catholic/Christian Priest being murdered (shot and killed) in response to the recent inflamatory 'Anti-Muslim' Cartoon.

Enough is enough. 1st, I believe that to print any likeness of a leader of one's faith that mocks them or makes fun of them is inappropriate and should not be printed. That being said, I also don't have any sympathy for the Muslims who are self-professing this anger at the injustice/crime that has been done. I understand that Muhammed taught about love and peace - what the radical Islamic Muslim TERRORISTS are doing has NOTHING to do with the teachings of Islam.

If any Muslim has a problem or anger with the cartoon of Muhammed with a bomb on/in his hat, that anger should be directed at the terrorist who commit suicide bombs, behead men and women, and blow up Muslims at weddings - THESE terrorists have hijacked the teachings of Muhammed and have sent the message to the world, as the world now understands it, that these attrocities ARE - must be - what the teachings of Muhammed promote!

As far as these attacks, I believe it is just another excuse to perpetrate these crimes, these attacks on Non-Muslims! The 'impromptu' riot in Syra, for example - there is no such thing as an Impromptu riot in Syria without the goverment having been informed of the event before hand! There was little or no attempt by the Goverment t stop the attacks on the embassies, and the Syrian govt. has not apologized.

I heard on the TV a few minutes ago that the troops from Norway were forced to fire on the muslims attacking the camp in Afghanistan to prevent it from being over-run, resulting in several being hurt/and or killed!

I wonder what Muhammed would think about all this violence over a cartoon?!

Yeah, lets not bring up the myriad of insults that the Muslim Nations have printed, chanted, and burned about the American Leadership. It is about Freedom of Speech. If we censored according to what people found appropriate, there would never be ANY written word. Someone will find something offensive with everything. As much ridicule as the Catholic Church has experienced at the hands of cartoonist, or the President of the United States, or all the caricatures made of Hitler or the Japanese during the World Wars, it was only a matter of time before the Muslims experienced the same thing. Islam has been in the forefront of world news for years now. Killing, raping, bombing, or protesting the infidel. As much bad press as they have created over what they find offensive, now it is just karma. Turn about is fair play. They need to stop being so thin skinned, especially since the "insult" is from the infidel anyways. We are all going to hell, regardless of cartoons.

Not only that, but we constantly hear people trying to say that this "extremism" within the Muslim circles is isolated, and yet how many people took to the streets in celebration when 9/11 occurred? Where are the Imam's making the calls for Muslim's to act accordingly? I shudder to wonder how it can be that they tolerate such extremism within their own ranks in silence, but they'll be the first to damn anyone outside their ranks who say it for them.

It was just another excuse to attack Non-muslims. This goes further to prove that there is no tolerance in this religeon. They can attack any other culture or faith, but the moment the opposite happens it's freakin' Holy War! It is the Muslim way or beheading! Many people just don't get that yet...but they are starting to!

Islam is a respectable religion. What is that statement. An opinion without much support.

All religions are "respectable". Christianity is a very respectable religion, yet the religion is blamed for church leaders that commit sin. Priests that molest children, pastors caught embezzling money or buying hookers. These actions lable a religion. A religion, like people, is judged by actions. The Christian faith has the Inquisition and the Crusades, the Muslims have terrorism. We are judged by actions, not by words written by dead men. Didn't claim it was fair, or right. Just that it is.

If you are saying you believe in censorship when it comes to not insulting religion that's insane. Do you know how much stuff could be censored if we were forced to be overly concerned with the delicate sensibilities of the very religious? Believing certain material to be inappropriate or in bad taste is fine. Believing it should not be printed is fine. But if you declare that it should be illegal to print it we're definitely in disagreement.

Only to those who respect them. You don't have to be religious to have respect for certain religions. But you could also flat out disrepect the idea of organized religion in general.

The violence and murders have definitely convinced me that the cartoon was a misrepresentation of them. :doh

Organized religion is the greatest conspiracy since the invention of Hallmark Holidays. It is the opiate of the masses. If it doesn't stagnate a culture, it pushes it to "cull the infidel".

Quite right and well put. You miss something though. Catholic priests that molest children and are caught are defrocked and often go to jail.same with embezzelers. Protestant ministers that go with hooker are expelled from their postions. The Crusades ere 800 years ago the Inquisition 600. This is 2006. A muslim women was elected to the new Palestinian govt. because she convinced 3 of her sons to put on bombs and kill people. She says she will try to convince other people to do the same. Its Muslims that make heroes out of people that murder chldren in Pizza parlors.
All the while its Muslim Religious leaders that encourage these activities.

This is about something bigger. It's about a "clash of civilizations."

It's a clash that will not go away and it will only get worse. As long as we continue to progress and celebrate our freedoms in the West while they stagnate on every front through passed down traditions that do not work in the 21st century....we will clash. Our freedoms threaten and insult their lifestyle. They are unwilling to change at the moment...should we? Doesn't seem fair that a progressive society should refrain from advancements because another civilization is stagnate.

Sound familiar? I've only been saying it long before the great "Cartoon Conflict" to deaf ears. We did not have to witness this behavior to learn from what history has taught us already.

I love the ignorance.

Myth is far more powerful than fact, not only in the Islamic world, but wherever men and women seek absolution for their individual and collective failures. For all the Muslim world's rhetoric about the damage done by the Crusades, internal Crusades within Europe - against heretics and Jews - took many more lives over the centuries than did pre-Renaissance Europe's small-scale adventures in Palestine. The power of the Crusader myth in today's Middle East has far more to do with the perception of collective failure and vulnerability than with reality - after all, the Islamic Ottomans conducted a centuries-long, much more successful crusade against Europe thereafter, and Islamic warriors threatened the marches of Europe well into the nineteenth century. Islamic invaders did far more damage to the Ukraine and Poland than the Crusaders did to Palestine. Those who cite the Crusader conquest of Jerusalem as an act of peerless historical viciousness might do well to remember Islam's conquest of Constantinople and Budapest, and the Ottoman progress to the gates of Vienna. If the streets of Jerusalem ran with blodd, so did the streets - and churches - of Constantinople. There is plenty of historical; guiult to pass around. We are blessed to live in a civilization that has moved on - but we face threats from a civilization that clings to a cosmetically-enhanced past. I'm afraid the Muslims have a lot more than just "terrorism," despite their "victim" rantings.

Also, dismissing the acts of their terrorism over the past thirty years because some Catholic Priests touched a boy's wee-wee is stupid. There are extremes in everything. Until those Catholic Priests start forming groups to murder, destroy, and terrorize civillians in the name of "God" you should recognize the threats instead of passing it off as "every religion has fundamentals." It's irresponsible at best.

It took several times "getting caught" to defrock a couple of them. They were reprimanded and moved to another parish only to commit the same crimes over again. When the Crusades and Inquisition happen have little to do with the comparison of any religious government. Any time we have had church in power, bloodshed follows. Look at this present regime. It has not mattered that every bit of "evidence" against terrorism has been debunked or colored by different sources. We still work to destroy the enemies of Israel for them. We have been allies with several other countries throughout the history of our country and Israel is the only one that we have actively moved to destroy its enemies. The Crusades and the Inquisition were products of governments run by organized religion. Now, the Islamic nations are in the midst of their own Inquisition and Crusade against the Christian world. Religion does not breed or teach tolerance.

Here, let me slow this down so even a Marine can understand. :rofl

As long as religion rules a country, bloodshed follows. REGARDLESS of the reason or people. I don't ignore the bloodshed that the Islamic nations have done since the dawn of time. I also don't discount the bloodshed the Christian nations have done since Christianity was conceived. Or the Jewish nation.

Since they are "backwards" in philosophy, and since they have a reason for hating a country that stands for everything they find "sinful" in their religion, they should not have nuclear capability because they "MIGHT" use them against us. Rhetoric of their religious leaders aside. Maybe isn't definitive. We are supposed to be a culture built on innocent until proved guilty. They may be in the stone age in philosophy, but they still live in the real world, and they realize that any nuclear attack would result in the systematic destruction of them as a people. America has already proved that to Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan. Anything else is just blustering.

I am willing to bet that you are against gun control. Interesting, since someone might shoot you. I bet you own a vehicle. Funny that, since someone MIGHT run you over. Or you MIGHT run off a bridge. Quick, lets keep guns out of the hands of anyone who is religious. Take the cars away from them. They might get a message from their respective gods and decide to kill us all. I can see it now, the sign on the gun shop that says "If you believe in God, Allah, Muhammad, Yahweh, Buddha, or any other diefic power, you may not purchase a weapon. You might kill someone with it." Let's hear it for freedom. Steadily being destroyed by those that are scared of other's beliefs.

You could have just summed all your simpleton whining and obtuseness to one word...suicide. Appeasement and cowardice are other words. Instead of stopping the inevitable you would rather strive for a false peace by being "fair." Instead of being aggressive and pro-active, you'd rather be defensive and reactive. How trite.

"Innocent until proven guilty?" Our Constitution is an American one, not a global one. Realize that this world is made up of individual nations and governments that do what they must for their people's survival, security, and lifestyle and this fool's notion that "love and harmony" will see us through the hard times dissapears. Your pathetic life is not kept secure by arming our enemies with the weapons that can destroy it. There's a real world out there and America is not the real world. We are an exception. You should learn about it. Be thankful that your security is in better hands than your own.

Say Iran does develop nukes. Some apocalyptic terrorist group detonates one in Washington or New York months or even years later. Iran claims to have nothing to do with it. Is now the time when the public whines about our government and intel for not preventing it? You are willing to risk all of this...why? For some rediculous ideology of "fairness?" Pathetic.
