One of the best liked, and classiest number one players in history, Caroline Wozniacki has stated that this Australian Open (her only major title, though she has won the tour finals and dozens of other tournaments) would be her last. Happily married and diagnosed a couple years back with the autoimmune disease of rheumatoid arthritis, CW, who has been on the circuit since she was 15, she will hang up the rackets. She was the first Scandinavian lady to be ranked first in the world.
In the often catty world of women's professional tennis, CW is widely liked by most of the other players. When Serena was suffering from a serious medical issue caused by an embolism-Caroline pulled out of a lucrative big money exhibition to visit with Serena in a Florida Hospital. Serena was one of her bridesmaids in her recent wedding. While the standards for Hall of Fame constantly change, her many weeks at #1 and her Australian Open and tour finals titles ought to gain her easy admission.
Yes, she's classy except for a couple of incidents like her mocking of Serena Williams on the tennis court and taking a photo of her sleeping fiance at the time, Rory McIlroy and posting it on her twitter account.
Must not have upset Serena too much given how Serena invited CW to hang with her on the French Riviera after Rory dumped CW.
Her mocking of Serena Williams was far too racist for my taste, I held that against Wozniacki since I saw it. Whatever Serena Williams thought about it, I have no clue and if she's hanging with Caroline Wozniacki is her business, I don't care.
How long before Kyrgios implodes? So far holding his own against Nadal who's play has slipped a bit.CW's career is over-she lost in the third round today in Australia. Serena williams also got bounced as well as did Madison Keys

Fooled me but not Nadal. He's on the edge after a couple of very close calls.Nadal looked pretty strong beating Kyrgios, who was playing well-but that silly drop shot was unbelievable

He smashed his racquet. Then he goes for a 2nd serve Ace at 5 all and double faults. Then Nadal doubles back. Tiebreaker to Nadal.not at all-its like early morning there. I'll be back later tonight-don't want to spoil things
Nadal wins in another tie break. Good match and Kyrgios didn't implode.

second serve missed wide rather than long. bad break
A lot of millimeter out calls confirmed by replay.
The Bryans played their last match ever at the AO too last night
I saw they were losing but did not pay much attention. I have lost interest in tennis over the last few years. Sad to say one of the reason I was watching the Kyrgios match was to see his antics.
Nick needs to find a coach. He hasn't had an official coach for years. He's brilliant now in patches. Imagine how good he could be if he could stay focused and the media and officials didn't go out of their way to single him out and give him a hard time.
That drama in his third round clash with the time violation because he walked the towel to the back of the court himself because his hand was bleeding and he didn't want the ball boy to get blood on him was ridiculous.

He spits it for sure at times but let's not pretend it's all one way traffic.
