It's after midnight the perfect time for these burglars to break into cars. They're not worried about getting caught they have technology that'll allows them to quietly commit the crime. Long Beach police say they've never seen anything like it.

We've shown this video to experts in the field. And everybody right now news. They don't know what it is look closely at the suspect -- left he's holding a device in his left hand.

It seems that many remote keyless entry systems may either contain a "service override" code or that the box simply quickly tries many random keycodes. It is probably very low power, making it necessary to be used very close up, to prevent its operation on too many vehicles at once.

That's interesting. I really wonder how they do that.

For anybody interested, here's a cool article explaining the security measures of keyless entry.

My guess is somebody figured out the code hopping algorithm, kind of the same way somebody figures out the serial key algorithms for pirated software.
