Car Strikes Bicyclist AT Dana Point Intersection Before Alleged Assault

The video is disturbing. After hitting the guy with his car he gets out and stabs him. According to witnesses the attacker was "uttering racial slurs about "white privilege.".

However, police say they so far lack a motive for the crime

DANA POINT, Calif. (KABC) -- Horrifying surveillance video shows a sedan striking a bicyclist at a Dana Point intersection before the driver allegedly exited the car and assaulted the victim, who later died at a hospital.

The dramatic collision, which launched the bike and the cyclist into the air, occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific Coast Highway and Crown Valley Parkway.

Footage of the moment of impact was captured by a Ring doorbell camera mounted in front of a nearby home.

According to authorities, the man behind the wheel of the car then stopped, exited the vehicle and assaulted the male victim with a knife.

Not saying he didn't say a racial slur, but it is interesting that someone that lived nearby heard him say it but the witnesses that detained him didn't.

Police are still investigating so we might get more information at a later date. Pretty disturbing that the guy just ran into the bike at speed though.

It's road rage. It happens every day. We all understand what the OP is trying to say without actually coming out and saying it. At least that's how I understood it.

road rage or mental issues, it is the getting out and stabbing him to death that pushes it over the edge. I highly doubt the driver could see the biker's race until he was close enough to stab him....

In Maine, Dana Point is on the reservation and is a common last name among Native Americans. What racial slur ?

What leads you to believe it was planned? I mean at this point all we have is a short clip of video and the police say there is no connection between the 2.
 
 

The dead White guy, savagely murdered, was an ER Physician, a valuable and essential member of society.

Wonder if the murderer even has a job?
 
If I had a dime for all the times some asshole has nearly hit me when I am biking.....
 
1. I think Dana Point is NOT in Los Angeles County, where the woke district attorney is proud of letting vicious criminals walk free.

2. I think it is in Orange County, where I think that they have a district attorney who actually does his job.

a. So hopefully Mr. Smith will get the proper punishment.

The deepest condolences to the doctor's family, friends, and patients. We live in a strange nation where violent crime is directly or indirectly affecting everyone. An inevitable crackdown will come someday, and it won't be pretty.

Because generally when you hit someone with your car, you stomp on the gas and keep going. I'm guessing, obviously, but it sounds like a 'hit' ala Fargo season 1.

most people(i.e. generally) would stop and check on the person hit/call 911. if you keep on going you get multiple charges tacked on when they find you.
 
It’s hard to be sure from the video but looks as though the bicyclist was crossing illegally and hitting him was an accident.

The OCSD said the cyclist was riding in the bike lane and stopped at a red light when he was struck from behind. The driver intentionally struck the cyclist, officials said.

The Lexus driver then got out of the car and stabbed the cyclist.

Well, I was talking about a road rage incident where the person was hit on purpose, since that's what people are guessing it might have been.
