Trump's own words and actions are causing some worry in America's intelligence community

Candidates poised for classified briefings despite spy agency worries over Trump

U.S. spy agencies are preparing to deliver a classified briefing to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, the nation’s intelligence director said Thursday, despite deep unease among many spy officials with the real estate mogul’s pro-Russian rhetoric.

<snip>

Clapper’s remarks came amid new signs of deep discomfort with Trump among the upper ranks of the intelligence community. In a measure of that growing animosity, one senior intelligence official said Wednesday that he would decline to participate in any session with Trump. “I would refuse,” the official said, citing not only concern with Trump’s expressions of admiration for Russian President Vladi*mir Putin but seeming uninterest in acquiring a deeper or more nuanced understanding of world events.

I agree with the following
He’s been so uninterested in the truth and so reckless with it when he sees it,” the official said

Wait, Hillary had multiple servers in her basement which contained reams of national security data, and which the FBI stated were likely hacked by hostile foreign entities, and the "intelligence community" is worried about Trump?

Yeah, right.

One has to wonder about certain agencies concerns about a loose lips loudmouth being handed delicate materials.

And yet they're not worried about Clinton even if she has been described as careless when dealing with classified information. Nice.

I would say their credibly is getting damn close to zero these days.

Funny they should be worried about Clinton and her numerous ties to the Chinese.
They should also be hugely worried at the fact the can't keep classified data safe and secure,
And is very negligent when it comes to handling classified data.

Clinton committed federal felonies while in charge of classified data.
She technically shouldn't even have a security clearance according to the law.

So these security advisors are barking up the wrong tree.

But you myopic bias view is clearly noted.

Really? "multiple servers in her basement which contained reams of national security data" Please provide the reading audience with proof of such a statement.

For some reason, several GOP-led 'investigations' found ZERO evidence to support your, and their, belief.

OK, so this is a satire thread, right?

The hyper partisan Hillary for President staffers employed by WaPo thought they would write up some exceedingly poor screed about security concerns over Trump, and a janitor picked it up by mistake, thinking it was meant for publication.

That's got to be it.

It's made up nonsense. The article cites unnamed sources.

Why do candidates even need acess to sensitive materials before the election?

I'll do that when you can identify the unnamed sources in your Washington ComPost article.

They need to know what is really going on rather than the lies fed to the general public. ;)

Retired Navy admiral and law professor John Hutson is either lying or he hasn't seen and heard what Trump said. I expect that this liberal troll is just repeating the dem lines that he has been given.

“He’s been so uninterested in the truth and so reckless with it when he sees it,” the official said.
Does this OFFICIAL have the balls to say this BS in public?? This guy or girl can speak candidly about domestic political issues that intelligence officials typically refuse to discuss if this phantom wants to really save the country and put the criminal Clinton family back in the White House.

Trump’s quip this week goading Russia’s intelligence services — to target Clinton’s accounts while serving as secretary of state More BS, Trump assumed that the Russians had targeted the information that Hillary left lying in an unsecure location where anyone could see them and asked the Russians to return the e-mails via our liberal press. As any fool knows the servers is in the hands of the FBI now and anything that could be gleaned from it has been removed so there isn't anything to target and if revealing those missing e-mails could damage our national security then Hillary is guilty of perjury as well as endangering our national security. Didn't Hillary swear that those e-mails were of no importance at all??

“It’s entirely conceivable that he will say, ‘I know all that. I don't want to be briefed,’ ” the official said. This fool should be fired and if Trump is elected they will be so they might as well go public.

And here Hillary just connects her pipeline to Yahoo or something for any nation to just hit "download and print", then "Reply all" to Iran, China, Russian intelligence agents.

I always dreamed are smart enough to survive modern asymmetrical warfare, but with Hillary we are truly screwed.

This is funny, they worry about Trump, who has shown with his own business he knows how to handle delicate information, but no mention of Hillary who has a history of being reckless with classified information.

This must be opposite election year.

Has Trump received millions of dollars from foreign nations? No

Has Hillary? Yes

Who should be looked at more closely for a security breach?

Hillary is already bought and paid for.

i don't see why candidates should be briefed on classified info before they win the general unless it pertains to their own personal safety.

edit to add : if there's some extremely sensitive and potentially dangerous international issue that the candidate might tip the wrong way by saying something dumb in a speech, i'm fine with the intelligence community telling that candidate to chill the **** out in a general way.

POUH has admitted that it was a bad idea to throw he e-mails into the wind and hope that some of them reached her operatives that were getting rich in Libya and she swears that she won't do it again.

I think the idea is that it allows some time for the candidates to get primed on current world affairs before they become instantly responsible for everything.

which could be easily done between November and January.

It might actually be good for Trump. Show him the world is more complicated than he thinks. On the other hand, he may just live tweet the briefings.

those that do pretty much I disregard as a journalist trying to get on the first page of the next print.

I think the idea is to make it so they aren't blindsided on inauguration day. "Wait, we're doing what in Cuba?" But yeah, I think it's weird to do it for candidates. I think they should wait until the election. There's over two months between election day and actually taking office. Plenty of time to get up to speed. Why send the loser home with national security secrets?

yeah, i agree. from what i've read, Truman had no idea that the US had developed nuclear weapons until after he took office upon Roosevelt's death. that seems like the better way to do it.
