Our presidents are what they are. Each is an individual, a collection of abilities, failings and quirks, even as you and I. Some are more competent in dealing with the problems which face the nation during their times in office. Others are not.
The shadows cast by their actions, or lack of actions, may be long. At day's end, their evaluation is best left to professional historians.
Meanwhile, we remain a nation divided by two parties. The daily reportage of who said what about whom is the stuff of gossip column, nothing more.
