He's right. The identity politics of race (as well as gender and sexual orientation) tends to downplay class and socioeconomic divisions in society. These criticisms could be easily made by far left advocates attacking the willingness of Liberals and the Democratic Party to subordinate the struggle for racial equality to the capitalist class by treating black workers and black capitalists as a single united front. These things aren't as simple or one-dimensional as they may first appear. We have a long way to go.
