Believe me, there's a lot of places that would like to secede from Trump, but that ain't gonna happen either! In reaction to the Trump election there is a movement by Leftist for California to secede from the Union.
This is stupid, illegal and with people like Nancy Pelosi running the Government and Economy of this new republic it will end up another Venezuela inside of 5 years.
The part this Group of Leftist has not noticed or fails to mention is that most of Northern California would not want to go with them. Culturally and economically most of Northern California has more in common with Texas that they do with San Francisco or L.A.
Oregon is a similar situation, anywhere outside of the Portland, Eugene or Salem areas it’s a hardcore red state. Oregon has 100% mail in ballot voting. Although never proven it’s strongly suspected that without election fraud Oregon’s electoral votes would have gone to Romney in 2012 and Trump in 2016.
In late 30s and early 40s there was a movement for counties in Southern Oregon and Northern California to secede from their respective states and form the State of Jefferson. It’s perfectly legal and it’s how about 20% of the existing states were formed (Main seceded from Massachusetts –Kentucky and later West Virginia seceded from Virginia etc.) . Jefferson would have been the 49th state with Alaska 50 and Hawaii 51. The final procedural process was scheduled for mid December 1941 but the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. With WW2 the State of Jefferson was put on the back burner. With some of the leadership in that movement killed in combat it never happened.
Today there is a new State of Jefferson movement in most Northern California counties. The reason comes down to: Southern California setting policy for Northern California is about as culturally and economically the same as New York City setting policy for Wyoming.

No one is seceding from the Union. It's like when people claim Texas or this or that is going to secede...no one is going to. South won't rise again, and ain't no state leaving the Republic.
Jesus people.

There IS no "main point". A couple dozen idiots out of nearly 30 million Californians contacted the media and made a big deal about succession, just as a few dozen Texan assholes did the same thing when Obama was elected.secession is not the main point

There is no "State of Jefferson". There will never be a "State of Jefferson". And even if there was, impossible that it is, dividing California into two states has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with "succeeding" from the United States.
And before you get testy, Yes, I live in Northern California, so I'm quite familiar with this anarchist movement which is a poor man's "white lives matter" statement with less than a handful of people, people who haven't the slightest clue that California is the fifth largest economy in the world, so a few rural, sparsely populated counties declaring themselves "free" would soon find themselves a bunch of poverty-ridden ner'do wells, wondering why they are suddenly bankrupt because the revenue from San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento suddenly dried up.
Yeah, Northern California is sick of sending water to the greedy South state, where deserts are being populated by diverting the bounty of our rivers. But that's not what "Jefferson" is all about. It's about uber-right-wing racists hoisting the Confederate flag, sending those uppity non-whites a message.
I'm as pro-strong border security and anti-sanctuary city as one can get, but that's not what y'all are about. You're about creating a gun-toting, razor-wired Idaho-type militia filled with poorly-educated hicks who want to keep people of color out.
Secession is NOT going to happen. There aren't enough red-throated bigots in this state to make it happen. I may hate Trump, but I hate the "**** everyone but me and people who look like me" movement even more.

I'm sorry but you can't be from California and use the word y'all.
Sure I can. I was born in Texas.
Did you drive from Texas to California in a Y'all Haul?
