A proposed curriculum in California for elementary and high school students would attempt to “decolonize” American society with an “ethnic studies” course.

In the course, children will be instructed in Aztec chants to various gods of human sacrifice and cannibalism, asking the gods to make them warriors for social justice.

This is all to help the children “challenge racist, bigoted, discriminatory, imperialist/colonial beliefs” rooted in “white supremacy, racism and other forms of power and oppression.”

For example, Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec god of war, was traditionally worshipped with human sacrifice. The school children will ask the deity to instill in them “a revolutionary spirit.”

The curriculum’s vision statement admits this is not about education, but rather a “tool for transformation, social, economic, and political change, and liberation.”

No wonder decent and intelligent people are leaving in droves .
This is the State where unofficially Trump took 75% of the vote .The likely reaction by ordinary people detesting this new brand of Left madness .

Sounds like fun. If a school's mascot is the Aztecs, it could use these chants at games.

I thought this was satire at first. Apparently from what I can tell from brief observation it is not.

I read a book series by Tom Kratman called "A Desert Called Peace" and it describes in it that UN has legalized Aztec cannibalism and human sacrifice, amongst other quite deviant practices. It is a fiction book series. I am beginning to wonder if he might be precinct? Hmm.

I would not be surprised if this were true. We are talking about California after all.

The OP wrote of CA

"This is the State where unofficially Trump took 75% of the vote ." She left out the part about the space laser.

Try again Ivan.

Human sacrifices are a good idea and would get great tv ratings. California leading the way.

This sounds like bollocks.
This is the type of outrage we get when a school decides to tell students about the existence of atheism and gets thousands of letters and death threats because they now supposedly hate religion.
It's the D&D being devil worship simply because it has devils as monsters all over again.

This absolutely should be taken to federal court.

I love aztec culture. We need more aztec studies... because it is so much fun!

Because :

" This approach, in turn, enables teachers to inspire their pupils to participate in “social movements that struggle for social justice” and “build new possibilities for a post-racist, post-systemic racism society.” "

Is such a bad thing to aspire to... LOL

All we need are more TV Cameras in certain parts of Chicago... go live... BOOM! Great ratings.

I mean hell... they are doing it already.

These conservative think tanks... All they seem to do is write science fiction. (I understand why they changed name, the previous one sounds like a sect)

Schools should not be proselytizing the atheist religion, outrage is the appropriate response to using tax dollars to forward atheism.

Anything with tacos and sombreros is good...
Tacos and sombreros are not Aztec culture. The Aztecs were a primitive race who worshipped demons, they were Christianized by Spain and over the years they married into the Spanish and became a Spanish race and not an Aztec one. Which is very good. There is no need to bring back the cult of demon worship that Cortés crushed.

I thought conservatives liked prayer in schools. Why should it matter which imaginary deity they're praying to?

But, not surprisingly, CityJournal.org is badly misrepresenting the whole Aztec Prayer angle, to the extent that I would even call it a "pants on fire" lie.

Projects & Assessments: Students will create a PowerPoint presentation to inform the class about their research findings on how culture has shaped social justice movements. Students will select and memorize a classic piece from their culture's oral traditions (a story, song, poem, prayer, or oral ritual.) Student will present their findings and perform their traditional piece to the class.

August Instructional Quality Commission Agenda - Instructional Quality Commission (CA Dept of Education)

That's a far cry from the alarmist pig slop description that CJ just threw out there.

Hell, even Fox News didn't try to take it that far. Not a single mention of Aztec or even prayer.

Mexicans are not Aztecs.

I know, but try telling some of them that. Every cinco de mayo, and every other Mexican holiday they parade out a bunch of feathered "Aztec dancers" all doing some so called "sacred dances" which were actually all invented in the '70s by some Chicano students at San Diego State University to show pride in their "history".

Aztec themes are big now in some communities, a rejection of all things "colonial" and/or American.

The term "reconquesta" is a Spanish term which accounts for the Spanish expelling the Moors from Southern Spain. Today in America--especially in states like California, student are taught that 'reconquesta' is the retaking of the Southwest lands by "indigenous peoples" i.e., Aztec descendents. The political and cultural move to reclaim 1/3 of the United States and rename in "Aztlan". These people actually believe this shit. But they aren't wrong, our open border policy has pretty much assured that dream to invade the USA and claim if for "Aztlan".

Aztecs are from Mexico... and the Aztecs did not become Spanish... that is ridiculous.
