Liberalism gone mad.

"Officers were called to the Walmart located on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay Area when Taylor allegedly tried to leave the store without paying, CBS San Francisco previously reported. Bodycam footage shows police telling Taylor multiple times to drop the baseball bat he was holding, but Taylor continues holding the bat. Officers then use Tasers on Taylor twice, but he continued to advance toward the officers (with the bat). Fletcher then shoots Taylor once in the chest, causing him to drop the bat."

Now the officer is charged with voluntary manslaughter for defending himself.

Officer charged in fatal shooting of Black man at San Francisco Walmart

Side note: Manslaughter? You'd think by now the PC SJW culture would have changed the wording to personslaughter.

It will be reviewed, if it is as you claim it to be, likely the officer will be cleared. Though it sounds like cops need some better ****ing tazers.

Or somebody has figured out a counter to them.

Sure are failing a lot lately.

They're already militarized, look at all the **** they can get. A more effective tazer isn't going to raise that bar any.

Multiple police required a gun to subdue one man with a bat.

What kind of weak ass pansies do you Americans have on your police forces?

Fair on the point about the tasers, but with the riots we've witnessed over the last many months, sure seems like they have an actual need for some if that equipment. . . . And more training in how to use it better (more effect, less collateral damages)

Until a taser kills someone, then you all will be screaming that tasers are too powerful.

Well more training is certainly necessary, and better less-than-lethal tools as well. There needs to be some top-down turnover and reform with policing tactics and how they engage the communities. The Police are not meant to be the Military for very specific reasons.

I suppose it depends on how much power it puts out. If you got the thing hooked up to a car battery, it may be too much. Less-than-lethal isn't necessarily completely non-lethal, but it's a better response. And we should probably do some research and engineering into developing better less-than-lethal tools.

Agreed on more training.
Agreed on adopting reforms that have proven themselves effective.
Agreed that non-lethal strongly preferred.

Our cops are not weak! The are handcuffed by WEAK liberal politicians who won't allow them to use the force necessary to subdue the bad guy. Their tazers are most likely inadequate because the same WEAK liberal politicians have them calibrated so as not to hurt too much. Pay attention to your own socialist, liberal side of the border, we don't need your skewed view point.

:lamo Aww, look at you, all salty. Meantime, multiple cops needed a GUN to subdue one man with a BAT. What a bunch of sissies.

Also, since you're new here, let me help you out a bit. This is an international forum. That means I get to play too, no matter how very upset it makes you. Calling it out simply makes me laugh harder...though, to be honest, I'm laughing pretty hard at your cops right now, so I'm not sure that's possible.

I dunno, I watched the video and that looks borderline to me, but I don't think a homicide charge is warranted.

Taylor was close to the officer, brandishing the bat, and moving slowly toward him, but it also seems like the officer could have tried to back away before shooting. Taylor didn't look like he was gonna be moving too fast, and almost as if he as about to go down.

That, and there was a bystander directly in the line of fire behind Taylor.

What? So, you would rather have one person with one gun? Does a police officer have the right to self defense, or not? How do you handle a guy who comes at you with a baseball bat and refuses to put it down and keeps coming?

We have and the tasers ten years ago were killing people. Now, they fail to stop people and the cops have to resort to lethal force.

The handwringers don't understand that they can't have it both ways. First, they don't want the cops beating the **** out of someone like they did Rodney King, so that's out and the result has become: the cop has to wait until lethal force with a firearm is the last resort. Great job creating a problem where one didn't exist.

There are certainly precautions to take with tazers and the police need to be trained in how to use them effectively. We would have to note that there would still be deaths, even if using tazers, but if overall we lower the number of deaths during police interactions then it's at least a positive direction. And we continue to evolve our tech and training to keep on the positive slope.

Should a 5'2" female officer go hand-to-hand with a male suspect twice her size who's armed with a baseball bat? Or, should we ban females from serving on the police forces?

Would you take on some nutjob who's wielding a bat with your bare hands?
