California's health insurance exchange vastly overstated the number of online hits it received Tuesday during the rollout of Obamacare.

State officials said the Covered California website got 645,000 hits during the first day of enrollment, far fewer than the 5 million it reported Tuesday.

The state exchange had cited the 5 million figure as a sign of strong consumer interest and a major reason people had so much difficulty using its $313-million online enrollment system.

It is bad enough it is a train wreck they have to LIE to try not to make it look like one

Josef Goebbels would be very proud

so a 300 million dollar web site crashes from only 645,000 hits

Web traffic numbers for Obamacare's New York exchange look inflated
When people ran into problems attempting to use New York's health insurance exchange website on Tuesday, the state released a statement claiming that the site was experiencing problems because it had “received an overwhelming and unanticipated response of 2 million website visits” within hours of opening. By 5 p.m., the Associated Press reported, it was claiming 10 million.

Yet at the same time, federal officials were boasting that the federal website, Healthcare.gov, received 2.8 million visits.

How can both claims be true?

Looks like we have another LIE

it is like a nightmare that keeps getting worse and worse

Both claims can be true since they're two different websites.

Irrespective of the numbers related to website hits or non-hits, traffic to a site is not indicative of support of the site's "products". Lots of curious people brouse and then move on. It's the number of people "buying" that I'll be interested in seeing.

As an anecdote, I noted on CNN this morning that a review of problems in Maryland showed trouble accessing their site and that the problems had cleared and they were gloating about having 2,000 people enrol in the exchange. I could be overly critical, but 2,000 in a state where the population is 5.9 million and about 18% are uninsured (over 1 million people) is not a sign of a roaring success. If people were dying (literally or figuratively) to buy into Obamacare in Maryland, I'd expect far larger numbers, but we'll see over time.

So, to sum up, New York is claiming more than three times the web traffic of the federal exchange site for a state serving less than one-tenth the population.

I'm not privy to NY's numbers, so I don't know if they're accurate or not. But since the exchanges are handled at the state level, it would stand to reason that the state exchange websites would be getting more traffic.

there has been hardly any reports of actual enrollment. I wonder why? you would think if they were even mediocre they lap dog media would be bragging about the numbers
did a search yesterday and only came across 3 states that have posted number of enrollments
Louisiana 0 Connecticut 167 Wisconsin fewer than 300

you have over 20 states that didn't set up exchanges that are being handled by the federal site

so you are going to try to claim NY had 3 times the traffic then we had in 20 states

Hits don't mean s--t.
Every time you try it's a hit. That's happening.
If you bail when you find how much it'll cost it's a hit. That's happening.
Enrollments are what counts.
I've seen it said that 40% of the folks calling are expecting free healthcare.
Could it be that this POS was designed to fail so that the suggested remedy will be single payer Government run healthcare ... but as we all know, Obama said "... we may not get there immediately"

No way you say?

"When then asked by panelist Steve Sebelius whether he meant ultimately the country would have to have a health care system that abandoned insurance as the means of accessing it, Reid said: “Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes.” " Or maybe someone wants to argue Reid never really said that either.

Sure do. And what do those states have in common? If you guessed "States where people weren't even told what to do regarding the exchanges," you might be on to something.

Hell, I live in New York, which is one of those liberal hippie communes, and most people I know have NO CLUE what to do regarding the exchanges.

I don't doubt that single payer is the eventual goal. GOOD. We should have had it decades ago.

Funny. Every single mention of "free" health care I've seen has come from conservatives.

It is a gross lack of integrity for the media and government to be stating "hits" as a measure of anything. They know full well it means nothing to get a "hit". One person can generate thousands of hits in a day by themselves, tens of thousands if they know how.

How many people are signing up and how many aren't....that's the only measure. It's embarassing the complete lack of interest, and the media is running interference to that truth the best they can.

Waiting for Cardiac Surgery

0.7% of cardiac surgery patients (13 out of 1,854) at the QE2 Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

I have insurance through my employer. I'm looking into the exchanges to see if I can get a better rate, but I am in no rush.

I agree, but just was pointing out they are even lying about the number of hits to either make Obama care look more popular then it actually is and or as an excuse to explain why their 300 million dollar website paid by tax payers money is a failure
