NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A local cab driver allegedly tried to run over two customers after a fight over religion became heated.
The incident happened early Sunday morning on the Vanderbilt campus and left one man hospitalized and a cab driver arrested, said police

Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police. After they paid the driver he allegedly ran them down in a parking lot.

Ibrihim Ahmed, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. One of the passengers, Andrew Nelson, managed to outrun the cab but Jeremy Invus was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries, said police....

The reason he tried to kill them was his religion. My guess is the students were Blasphemous towards Mohammad or Allah or Islam as a whole. He responded like an Islmic extreamist fanatic. What would you expect. Look at what happened after the Danish cartoons. I do not understand why we are expected to walk on egg shells around muslims.

I agree people are responsible for their own behaviors. If the cabdriver did it because he was drunk, it wasn't the alcohol's fault; it was his fault for being drunk and driving. If he did it because he was mad at his wife, it wasn't his wife's fault, it was his. Perhaps the students did say something negative about Islam. It's not Islam's fault; it's the cabdriver's fault for reacting the way that he did. He should receive whatever consequences are legally applicable.

People make their own choices for their own reasons, and the consequences of those choices are theirs to bear. I wouldn't go off blaming religion for this nutcase because...well he's a nutcase. What sort of sane person tries to run someone over with a car because of an argument? I mean, if it's his religions fault for fueling him with rage enough to act in this manner, why isn't it also the cabs fault for giving him the means to extract his revenge?
