Your definition of sane is quite telling.

Too bad, I liked Tulsi Gabbard. She dared to be different.
I'm the one who's different
What I see with this and several others is that the Democratic Party has no room for a moderate. It's either pass the progressive litmus test or be kicked out of the party. It's no wonder independents who political ideology for the most part is somewhere in-between the two major parties are growing while the two major parties are shrinking. Both are getting rid of anyone who may be a moderate or who isn't an hard core ideologue.
Party affiliation in 2006 was 37% Democrat, 31% Republican, 30% Independent. Today, or as of 4 Jun 2020 the numbers are 31% Democrat, 25% Republican and 40% independent. Not only are the two major parties losing members, many folks are defecting on their own. The problem with that is the two major parties have all the power, a monopoly in our two party electoral system. It doesn't matter if both parties shrink to 10%, they'll still control everything, they have a monopoly and are bound and determined to keep it. Our election laws are written by Republicans and Democrats and they write those laws as a mutual protection act. If there is one thing both major parties agree on, it's no viable third party will ever rise. They'll keep their monopoly by limiting the choices given to the American people.
Why are you surprised?
Hawaii is full of Libs?
I didn't say odd, I said different.
Do I look surprised?
Hawaii is a fine state. It does much disservice to native Hawaiians though.
