So, anybody like investing in the stock market and talking about finances or making investments elsewhere besides the stock market? Anybody into starting their own business?

After reading studiously almost the entire book "A Random Walk Down Wall Street", I came upon this line, "long term, you can do as well with real estate as with the stock market".
Nuff said?

Let's say somebody had about 5k, how would you propose them to buy good real - estate, that will go up in value, without having to take out a mortgage loan or go into debt?
