Seymour Hersh said that Bush and others in the White House have come to view Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a potential "Adolf Hitler."

"That's the name they're using," Hersh quoted a former senior intelligence official as saying.

Hersh told CNN's "Late Edition" show that a "messianic" president feels driven to try to contain Iran and that the White House is determined to keep open a nuclear option against strong objections from some top Pentagon officials.

Strange, I thought Saddam was already labeled as the next Hitler; does anyone know of any Iranian super race in the making? Plans to win the Olympics? Will invade other countries? It's hard for me to see all the correlations. Didn't the Bush family have some business transaction with Hitler during the 30's? Isn't it strange how no one ever states, "he's the next Stalin, he's the next Pol Pot, he's the next Nero?

Well considering that most modern Islamic regimes are rehashed versions of the third reich it's a pretty good comparison.

Denial of Holocaust nothing new in Iran
Ties to Hitler led to plots against British and Jews

Once the mufti relocated permanently to Berlin, where he established his own Reich-supported "bureau," he was given airtime on Radio Berlin. From Berlin and other fascist capitals in Europe, the mufti continued to agitate for international Jewish destruction, as well as a pan-Islamic alliance with the Nazi regime.
He called upon all Muslims to "kill the Jews wherever you see them." In Tehran's marketplace, it was common to see placards that declared, "In heaven, Allah is your master. On Earth, it is Adolf Hitler."

When the mufti raised three divisions of Islamic Waffen SS to undertake cruel operations in Bosnia, among the 30,000 killers were some volunteer contingents from Iran. Iranian Nazis, along with the other Muslim Waffen SS, operated under the direct supervision of Heinrich Himmler and were responsible for barbarous actions against Jews and others in Bosnia. Recruitment for the murderous "Handschar Divisions" was done openly in Iran.

Sheesh that one was too easy to field.

Comparisons to Hitler are very much overused. It was not a good comparison for Ho Chi Minh or Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden or Kim Jong-il. However, the comparison of Hitler to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seems more valid than any other person of the last sixty years.

Ahmadinejad is an absolute lunatic bent on ideological/military domination of the entire world, and failing that, the destruction of the entire word.

I like the "don't tread on me" flag. I had one for my avatar on a different site and a liberal berated me for having a flag of hatred. They really are poor little ignorant creatures at times.

Its so easy to call someone a lunatic. Isn't it a possibility that it's all bravado talk. Like the bravado talk that Bush and co did in the run up to Iraq.

Besides people Ahmadinejad has no real power. He is just a face for the cameras. The real power is with the Supreme Leader cleric. It will be HIM that decides to nuke Israel, not Ahmadinejad.

How do you know?? I swear some members hear must have some sort of pyschic ability, because they seem to know everything about whatever government is thinking.

Is anyone else reminded of High School drama here, name calling and posturing reminiscent of teenage tantrum days. These are Adults we are talking about here, and people in positions of responsibility for diplomatic, as well as national dialogue. I am hard pressed to see what will be accomplished by calling an enemy names, considering the possible need for future negotiation.

"Your just a big dummy, and I dont like you......besides my Dads bigger than Your Dad"

Though I do agree with the general comparison, I dont see it as a good Idea to publicly state it, just as I felt the "Axis of Evil" mantra was counter productive.

No. There is no nation in the world whose actions have more closely mirrored their rhetoric than Iran.

Unless I'm mistaken, Bush and Co. followed through on their bravado talk, so that seems like an odd example to use to dismiss Iran.

Ahmadinejad doesn't have total power, but to say he has "no real power" is quite an exaggeration. Regardless, there is a reason that Ahmadinejad is allowed to be the face for the cameras: He makes Khameinei, Rasfanjani, and other influential leaders look moderate in comparison. Furthermore, his bluster and insanity are actually bargaining chips in nuclear poker. Forgive me if it doesn't ease my mind that the weapons might be in the hands of Khameinei rather than Ahmadinejad.

You need no psychic ability. Just the ability to pay attention.

The wave of the Islamic revolution will soon reach the entire world.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

We believe that visa quotas should be lifted and people should visit anywhere they wish freely.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

-(Say that one in your best wolf imitating grandma voice. The better to bomb you my dear..)

"Iran’s Ahmadinejad says Israel will be wiped off the earth.

“Our dear Imam [Ruhollah Khomeini] ordered that the occupying regime in Jerusalem be wiped off the face of the earth. This was a very wise statement."

"He warned the heads of other Islamic states to beware of the sedition by Israel and not to go along with the old world order otherwise they would be “burnt in the fire of the Islamic Ummah (Nation) and will bear an eternal stigma on their foreheads”."

Kinda sounds like :

Qur’an 74:31 “We have appointed nineteen angels to be the wardens of the Hell Fire. We made a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve and We have fixed their number as a trial for unbelievers in order that the People of the Book [Christians and Jews] may arrive with certainty, and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Book, those in whose hearts is a disease.”

Interesting poll.

Would Iran-U.S. talks make Iraq more secure?
Ends at 2006/4/14 18:02
Yes 37 % (842)
No 58 % (1323)
Undecided 3 % (79)

Why do most people think talking to Iran will do no good?

Uhh. Just fyi
Afghanistan is no longer in Taliban hands.
Iraq is no longer in Saddams hands.

Bravado?
That is a bonofide fact.

I’m not at all surprised that there are many who dislike the US and even more who dislike Bush but is there really anyone here who thinks it’s ok for Iran to gets nukes?
