There are proportionally alot of Buryats in the Russian army, mainly because Buryats have problems finding jobs, especially if they are educated. However the army is racist, and is not allowing Buryat junior officers to advance in rank. Instead Russia is happily sending soldiers from ethnic minorities to the tasks where mortality is expected to be very high.

Russia should look into denazifying itself.

The ethnicities in Russia's central and eastern regions have been discriminated against since Czarist times.

Today's Russia is no better. On Russian trains they must ride in the third-class cars.

Buryatia is the second hardest hit region when it comes to casualties, only Dagestan is hit harder, which just proves that minorities are used for the most deadly tasks, because the Russian press doesn't have to report if they die, and the average Russian couldn't care less about Dagestanis or Buryats. Buryatia is located at Lake Baikal at the Mongolian border, and the ethnic Buryats are closely related to the Mongols. However if you break down the deads from Buryatia you also find alot of ethnic Russians. But Russians from far away regions are as desposable as the ethnic minorities. As long as not the good boys from Moscow and St. Petersburg are hurt all is fine.
