First vote is on the Build Back Better plan (sorry - I put this here as no MSM site currently has any updates on it)

If the "Build Back Better" plan didn't cost a dime, ended hunger, ended crime, ended homelessness, ended disease, and gave every child a free puppy, the Republicans would do everything in their power to block its passage and there would be some Democrats who would blackmail Congress in order to receive tons and tons of pork to prevent them voting against it.

You expect something different?\

Why?

After all, that's the way that the American government works - right?

Sounds like the vote on the Build Back Better plan is just to continue debate on it and wait for the CBO score. This was a concession to be able to vote on the infrastructure plan today to get it passed. Final vote on the Build Back Better should be the week before Thanksgiving once the CBO scores it.

(I'm trying to watch and listen at work so I may not be understanding this correctly. Please correct me if I am wrong)

(Bloomberg) -- Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez signaled mistrust of the legislative process that led to the passage of President Joe Biden’s $550 billion infrastructure bill, explaining why she and five other progressive Democrats cast dissenting votes. Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday she’s concerned whether moderate Democrats would keep their promise and vote to advance the Build Back Better Act, a $1.75 trillion social spending and tax package, now that the House has backed a bipartisan infrastructure bill and sent it to Biden for signature.
“We need folks who are willing to go on the record, and say this doesn’t feel right and we’re going to hold you accountable,” Ocasio-Cortez said during a live broadcast on Instagram.

Oh, that's just brilliant AOC. Vote against the bipartisan deal to show them you don't trust them to vote for the bill you want.
“And so frankly these ‘no’ votes really, really rack up the temperature on leadership to deliver on paid family leave, to deliver on relief for immigrant communities, to deliver on all of these things,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Or maybe they just provide another excuse for the so-called 'moderates' to say "fine then, **** you too".

Well, the bill passed anyway, so there's that. But this is part of what kills me about Democrats. Always acting lock-step is no good, but it'd be nice to be able to do it maybe now and then. You know, like when the other major party poses a direct threat to American democracy and it's more important to make sure you win the next few elections even if it means every last one of your demands does not get met (which isn't how democracy is supposed to work, either).

Enough grandstanding crap. Get some shit done now that helps people. Make sure it's there for 2022 and 2024. Do it right, and then you'll have time to try to get more of what you want. That's life.

Fortunately this time, it did not result in snatching complete failure from the jaws of victory. But damn, are they ever good at that.

They need to pump the brakes on the Build Back Better plan IMO, or at the very least break it up in smaller pieces and focus on the parts that have wide support throughout the country. The infrastructure bill is a big victory. Why not focus on that and the benefits for the American people instead of ramming through more spending giving the right wing the opportunity to cry "Socialist!" some more?

She's catching shit for it from her own constituents.

I agree with you. These mega-bills need to stop.
