Folks, this rough and tumble Conservative Evangelical has a soft spot. I'm also an accomplished musician of nearly 36 years' experience. Now, that being said, I love the performing arts and am also a harsh critic of pop music today.
But I digress.
Writer and Choreographer the late Michael Bennett, who hails from Buffalo, New York as I do, penned and choreographed one of the most successful Broadway Musicals in American History: "A Chorus Line". A story of 19 dancers vying for spots on a chorus and being directed by Zach, the egomaniacal choreographer who wants to know their life stories. One of the dancers, a former star and love interest is Cassie, who being unable to find work, pleads with Zach for a spot.
Now, I've seen the 1985 Richard Attenbourogh film adaptation numerous times, in fact, I'm planning on adding it to my DVD collection, but I really want to see the stage production, either here in Buffalo when it comes to Shea's PAC, or if I can swing it, see it on Broadway with my wife. I would like to open a discussion on the different aspects on both the film and stage productions because each version has its own appeal, in my honest and humble opinion.
