Brutality of Syrian Rebels Posing Dilemma in West

There are no good actors there. If our goal was to save the people of Syria it would require boots on the ground and a take down of both sides in this bloody war. But protecting the civilian population simply opens our soldiers to endless attacks by militants posing as civilians. Americans are done playing that game.

Watch this thread fall flat on its face! This isn't what people want to hear here! They want Assad to be the evil one so that we can engage in another war of aggression against a country that HAS NOT ATTACKED US! Putin and Assad have been yelling that Assad is fighting a war on terrorists against Islamic extremist jihadists that pull people's hearts out and eat them, tie civilians up and shoot them execution style, chop people's heads off, park truck bombs near civilians, kidnap journalist, use snipers on UN officials, sack and burn Christian church's, but none of this matters because there are people on this board and elsewhere that are panting for war, drooling for war, rubbing their hands together at the prospect for war, holding their breaths as the senate/congress votes.


There's another thread up showing a new study that would make it more likely that the chem attack was the Syrian government. That's where every bodies going to be!

Watching Kerry yesterday assure everyone that the rebel forces are only 20% "bad guys" is so appallingly myopic on his part that my jaw hit the floor. Does he not understand the implications of the supposed "good guys" who allow these "bad guys" into their army? The barbaric brutality that they allow to be visited on the Syrian population should be all the proof you need that the Syrian rebels don't actually much care about a peaceful, free Syria.

My point being that he is the lesser of two evils, he's not our evil, just a few short years ago Pelosi, Kerry and Clinton were singing his praises. I haven't seen any evidence of excessive brutality by Syrian gov't forces. This is typical al Queda stuff. We're on the wrong side. No doubt about it.

Kerry told lie after lie to a Senate committee back in the 70's of barbaric brutality that was not done by our troops. Why would anyone in their right mind believe a word he says about barbaric brutality that he is trying to pin on just one slice of a foreign group? The truth never has meant a damn thing to this man so even if by chance he was telling the truth, you couldn't trust him.

See Kerry was able to answer back being questioned by a Junior Congressman. I would have told him.....look here Buddy I don't Care about your past record or any of the BS. The amazing part is that the dismal attempt at sugar coating the situation on the ground in Syria by Kerry is at odds with the intelligence community! Intelligence reports in EU and US show the beheading, brutalizing, heart eating Islamic Jihadis are the muscle of the Syrian rebellion!

We will be assured that those are not the "main" rebels (freedom fighters?) but for "security reasons" we can not be told who the "good guys" that we wish to support actually are - lest they be sought out and killed by the evil Assad's forces.

There should be no dilemma. Aiding either side in Syria's sectarian conflict won't materially benefit American interests. Moreover, the anti-Assad forces have shown little regard for civilian protections. They are not "good guys."

From the UN's report earlier this years:

Anti-Government armed groups have committed war crimes, including murder, torture, hostage-taking and attacking protected objects. They continue to endanger the civilian population by positioning military objectives inside civilian areas. Where armed groups carried out bombings in predominantly civilian areas, it had the effect of spreading terror and amounted to the war crime of attacking civilians.

Who is less bad and why?

Assad is less bad for LOTS of reasons. One, that's what the Syrian citizens themselves say (according to NATO and others). Two, Syria is a sovereign country who's government IS recognised by many countries as legitimate, countries who have embassies, trade ambassadors and trade goods and services, regardless of US's opinion of it. THAT, cannot be ignored. Iran has a mutual defence treaty with Syria and is obligated to defend their ally. Assad and Putin both have made clear (for the objective who don't have their fingers in their ears) that Assad is fighting a war on terror against Islamic extremists and jihadists that are terrorising his people/country and the US is interfering with his war on terror, arming and training the ones that were our enemy when they were operating in A-Stan and Iraq. And then there is the lengthy list that I have posted Sooooooo many times of the insurgents/terrorists crimes against civilians. And there's more reasons than that, but if that's not enough, then there is no enough.
