So, this is what happens...

Labour Party in full leadership coup attempt. Timed resignations, coordinated resignation speeches by the Blairite rump and a robust defence by the centre and left of the party.

Conservative Party in full civil war as 'Anyone But Boris' campaign revs up.

I have a feeling that the knowledge that the party would defeat any challenger to Corbyn resoundingly might prevent this coup from succeeding. I'd give it a 30% chance of success.

I also reckon that Teresa May is the one who is going to benefit from the Brexiters complete lack of a plan for what happens now.

Any thoughts?

Look on the bright side, the smaller parties will probably get more votes now and the SNP will probably take more of Scotland.

What'll happen with UKIP once the UK is truly out, btw?

Does anybody still need that party once their main goal was achieved?

They were pretty irrelevant already in national elections and I suspect that they will slowly merge into the Tory party or whatever comes out of that civil war.

That idiot Corbyn was asleep at the wheel, and largely slept his way through the referendum campaign. He's only fixated on preserving his own dictatorship over the Labour Party.

I think it would be awesome if Boris Johnson became PM. If I were British he would have my support.

I haven't been a big follower of news and positions in the Labour party but Hillary Benn is a Blairite?

I hesitate to say this as bringing US politicians into a Europe thread can take this down the US politics route but would you really vote for someone who is lying to you about the main planks of his campaign and everyone knows it? (and they still voted for it!)

UKIP is like the AfD. Discontent is their chief source of nourishment (besides cows' droppings).

Whatever deal is eventually reached with the EU, this summer of discontent will continue forever and so will, consequently, the cesspool where it can all be concentrated.

Farage won't allow that, he'd have to fade.

In some ways this is mirroring what is happening in the states. The conservative party here is deeply divided. There is an "anybody but Trump" and "dump Trump" campaign within the conservative party.

But Boris is fun though. Brexit has already made a mess of things, why not keep it going and see where it leads to? The results could be interesting, at the very least. ;)

Mr Johnson isn't fun, he's an opportunist sociopathic self-publicist who calculatedly affects buffoonery.

A meltdown of establishment pols is always a good thing. The only thing better would be a complete and utter destruction of their hold on the people.

He's fun if your country's future doesn't depend on it.

They have only one MP, and he defected from the conservatives. Their leader is a MEP who pops across the channel now and then to insult other Europeans and screw every cent from the expenses.

If you saw my post after watching Andrew Marr this morning, I think the poor white working class are waiting for a strong leader who speaks for them.

Farage isn't going anywhere yet - if neither Labour nor the Conservatives learn to start listening and addressing those concerns (I don't mean pandering to those concerns) then he will.

Most of UKIPs support has come from a particular brand of Labour voter and the major parties need to think fast - but they are not.

Some have yet to figure out that the people with whom they socialize and do business (from lobbyists to the highly affluent – both of which make large political contributions) are out of touch with the real world as viewed by the majority of voters. Like EU politicians, American politicians have no understanding of the attitudes, likes, dislikes, fears and dreams of the majority of people who support nationalism rather than global governance.

The Brits got tired of paying $20 billion every year to the EU and receiving only $10 billion back in benefits. I don’t want to point out the obvious, but American taxpayers sympathize with that concept which amounts to nothing more than a socialist redistribution of wealth. Like the Brits, we are tired of being told Islam is a religion of peace when the behavior of Muslims and the Koran tell us otherwise. All of us are wearied by your political lies.

In America, the successful campaigns of Senator Bernie Sanders and Donald J. Trump should have set off bells and whistles but some heads are so deeply buried in the sand of their perceived political power that they ignored the warnings. You might want to ask soon-to-be-former Prime Minister David Cameron of the United Kingdom just how fleeting power can be when elected officials forget who really holds the power.

So accusations that Jez voted to Leave. Labour elites certainly baying for blood today.

Really? Where did you hear that?

S'okay, found it. It comes from one of the coup leaders, Chris Bryant. Truth or nasty smear? I'd probably veer towards the latter.

You think Corbyn is pro-EU?
