Britain An 'Enemy Of Iran'

Updated: 18:22, Friday October 20, 2006

Iran's president has branded Britain and America "enemies of the Iranian nation" during a scathing speech in Tehran.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also said Europe and other supporters of Israel "may get hurt" after calling its leaders terrorist criminals.

He told a rally in Tehran: "The whole world knows that the US and Britain are enemies of the Iranian nation."

Ahmadinejad, who called decisions by the UN Security Council "illegitimate", launched another attack on Israel.

He said: "This (Israeli) regime, thanks to God, has lost the reason for its existence.

"Efforts to stabilise this fake regime, by the grace of God, have completely failed. You should believe that this regime is disappearing."

Ahmadinejad - who has previously called for Israel to be "wiped off" the map - was addressing thousands of people gathered to show support for Palestinians.

He called Israel's leaders a "group of terrorists" and warned the US and its allies it was in their interests to distance themselves from "these criminals".

Iran has been condemned for its nuclear programme "This is an ultimatum. Don't complain tomorrow. Nations will take revenge," he said.

Ahmadinejad said Europe was stirring up hatred in the Middle East by supporting Israel and said it "may get hurt" if anger in the region boils over.

"You should believe that this regime (Israel) cannot last and has no more benefit to you," he said.

"What benefit have you got in supporting this regime, except the hatred of the nations?

"We have advised the Europeans that the Americans are far away, but you are the neighbours of the nations in this region.

"We inform you that the nations are like an ocean that is welling up, and if a storm begins, the dimensions will not stay limited to Palestine, and you may get hurt."

The president also rekindled Iran's row with the West over its nuclear programme.

He said: "We promise that we will produce (nuclear fuel) in the next five years and will sell it (to the West) at a 50% discount."

Iran insists its nuclear programme is needed to create domestic energy while critics fear it wants to develop nuclear weapons.

That guy is a lunatic! He's really scary.

Does this mean he wants to go to war with the US and Britain?

And some people still don't understand why this regime (especially with nuclear weapons) poses a threat to the world...

It would be scarier still if he branded Britain as a friend of that contemptible regime...

I suppose you're right. And what is also certain is that the rest of Europe can't expect to be left out of this either. That lunatic was also making a veiled threat that if they don't cut off relations with Israel they will also be "hurt".

And although many in Europe would probably be quite happy to sever their relations with Israel, I think that most governments will see such ultimatums as totally unacceptable.

He is completely mad. Threatening Europe and saying that they "may get hurt", that's insane. It's almost like he's a parody of a dictator. Like he's just trying to be funny. As if he was pretending to be Dr. Evil or something just for kicks. Though I have to admit Kim Jong-il probably deserves the title of real live Dr. Evil even more. He probably really does live inside a mountain... :lamo

Sounds to me he's drawing a line in the sand and that could be especially dangerous to nations hosting Islamic citizens and guests. It could be equally as dangerous for those Muslim citizens and guests in those nations should the native citizenry rise up and rebel against the Muslims.

Thing is, Ahmadinejad is only a figurehead. The council holds all the power, and the president is a leader in name only. He can talk all he wants, but it is the council which makes all the decisions. Might be a good thing for the council to make another decision - replace the president. He is even scarier than our own president.

Have you folk noticed a rather peculiar trait in certain Politicians, namely those that actually have little (of any sense) to say are generally the most Rabid.
Example, Chavez, Kim Jong Il, Ahmadinejad, Mugabe.
I suppose I had best put in a couple of westerners,
Example: Bush, Kerry, Blair.
These last 3 I tend to classify as Politicians who are simply not of the calibre to be leaders of party or Government usually by virtue of lack of common sense and a willingness to see that those they govern fight for their idea's while strictly ensuru=ing that any relatives of theirs are kept out of the firing line.

It was so much simpler when the Monarch or Leader actually led his troops into battle!

You just couldn't resist, could you? You had to make a comparison to president Bush. That's disgusting. No actually it's just pathetic.

I agree that the president of Iran doesn't run the show in his country, but if the Mullahs didn't like what he was saying they'd have dumped him in a second. He's not really saying anything new, all he's saying has already been said by the religious leaders of the Islamic revolution (like the Ayatollah Khomeini).

It's just that hearing this sort of thing from religious leaders is very different to hearing it from a head of state. Even if he is just a figurehead.

who?

Most people in the west have understood that Iran was with Isreal the single 2 biggest threats to peace in the middle east since the 1980s. Only Saddams war with Iran held thier aspirations back for a decade or so, but the radical imans wish to spread thier "holy word" around the muslim world and the rest of the world has been known by most since they came to power. The real threat has always been Iran in the muslim world and thier firebrand religious brainwashing... and thats not taking the Saudi or Pakistani wacko imans lightly either.

The threat in the ME has alwats been Iran. Saddam was a tinpot dictator who bluffed the world into thinking he was more powerful than he actually was.

In the end of day, according to Ahmadinijad, every country which won't follow his crazy way of life will consider to be his enemy.

Chaves, Bashar Al-Assad, and George Galloway will be his enemies also in one day or another.

I hope that this Adolf Hitler copycat will vanished in the same way he appeared.

Dear Santa,

Please send me a Mohammad Bobblehead and a bottle of Jack Daniels for Christmas. I have been a very good infidel this year.
