In the 1980s, Donald Trump would often refer them to his spokesman, John Barron. The problem is that Barron never existed. It was simply Trump hiding behind a fake name. Well now it turns out that the former “Apprentice” star is dusting off that old trick once again because it looks like Meredith Mclver, the speechwriter blamed from Melania Trump’s plagiarized speech, is not a real person either.

Journalist Joy Reid was one of the first people to bring up the question of Mclver’s existence due the candidates past history of using aliases.

An investigation into Mclver’s history reveals virtually nothing prior to the Trump campaign offering her up in sacrifice. Her Facebook page was created today and only includes a single photo of her and a copy of the statement she made explaining her role in Ms. Trump’s speech. There are no examples of her past work, no links to a professional website and little evidence that she exists at all.

As for her twitter page, it also appears to have been set up earlier today as well and the first tweet is actually a re-tweet from the GOP nominee. But that’s not the truly interesting thing. Check out her second tweet.

Wow. Hard to fathom. Could it be?

We have seen enough of your threads to see how you " Fathom "

But , what the hell, you are rooting for the home team. ;)

Well Trump must've sheared a good deal of sheep becuase if true he pulled a massive amount of wool over the eyes of the Grey Lady

NY Times is reporting a full biographical on this woman.

If this turns out to be true, it could rank right up there with the lies Hillary has told. But, I think it will probably come down to what the definition of is, is.

On a serious note, do these people really think we're dumb enough to fall for such a thing? This surely can't be true?

I demand to see her long form birth certificate!

I posed it as a question for a reason.

I had been hearing rumblings about this...the FB page was created yesterday, etc.

I'd put nothing past Trump and his sleazy staff, but I would need evidence that she didn't exist,or did,. Wacky.

The "Meredith McIver" doesn't have much of a presence anywhere...but she does have a Facebook page that was created yesterday.

It's easy to dismiss something said by someone whose politics you strongly oppose...but it's a bit more appropriate to see if what he said is accurate first before implying that he's lying, wouldn't you think?

Meredith McIver is a full time staff writer, and registered democrat, and she also wrote or co-wrote books on Trump.

The OP was insinuating that she didn't exist?

Ah. So I Googled her and found something really interesting:

According to a 2007 deposition for a civil lawsuit, Trump said McIver was to blame for several factual errors about Trump's wealth in two of his books she helped co-write. "This is somebody that wrote it, probably Meredith McIver. That is a mistake," Trump said explaining one of those errors. The deposition was first reported by the Washington Post.

So according to Trump's deposition reported by CNN, she was to blame for several factual errors in two of his books...yet STILL he allowed her to write Melania's speech? Really?

So let's say she does exist as appears to be the case. That means that he KNEW she was to blame for several factual errors in two of his books, yet he still allowed her to write his wife's speech for her. So that means that Trump - you know, the owner of the phrase "You're fired!" - didn't fire her even after he had to own up to her errors in a sworn deposition. He didn't fire her, but trusted her to write his wife's speech!

What kind of boss is that? Is he the kind you'd want running your business? Maybe now we know why he's had several bankruptcies along the way, been twice bailed out by a Saudi Prince, and his casinos in Atlantic City went bust while the non-Trump casinos did just fine.

What kind of boss is Trump? He's the kind of boss that the GOP wants to trust with the nuclear codes.

Just when I think there is hope for you.

Well, whatever she is, or what she says, or believes in...... she is a real person, unlike what the OP suggested.

I don't know a thing about her myself other than a quick research.

She does seem to be a real person - but the issue now is what kind of boss Trump is. That was the thrust of my previous post.

I got that what you meant. I have a 5 way conversation going on both virtually and real life while my bids are being argued among potential clients for a property maintenance agreement.

The beer is flowing at my place tonight with some friends. ;)

I hope Trump gets canned so that Hillary's "unite against Trump" rhetoric collapses in on itself.
At that point she has to worry about Gary Johnson!

I have a sneaky suspicion that this whole "plagiarism" thing is nothing more than another setup by Trump to make the left look foolish.

Seeing as how the left is salivating at the thought of finding something else to blast Trump over...that the writer isn't real...they have now been made out to be freaking, pathetic idiots. And it's their own fault.

Trump is probably laughing his ass off at them.

I think the OP is trying too hard to extend a non-scandal beyond it's relatively short half-life. It was good fodder for the political left for a day or two. Beyond that it's insignificant.

I looked into this this morning.

1. It appears she's real.

2. She's a total mess.

There's some really weird photoshops she's prolifically tossing out in her twitter feed.

Isn't it obvious that this whole scandal was staged in order to distract people from what's going on right now?

I guess only to smart people.

*sigh* Have one for me. I am indeed 'whipped' - can't have a beer in my house, but only out on the town (and of course if I'm not driving).

I am envious...but then, I love her dearly - and that's more important than enjoying a good beer.

*pounds forehead against wall*
*several times*

But she's worth it. She really is.

*looks for Band-Aids*
