Breaking Down the Virginia Candidate Filing Deadline

Like New Jersey, which has already had its filing candidate deadline pass, Virginia only has the House up for grabs.

House:

District 1:
This district is already in the general election phase as incumbent Republican Robert J. Wittman (R) wins his party's primary unopposed. Unknown Democrat Herb Jones (D) wins his party's primary unopposed. The two face off against unknown Austin Nichols (I) in the general election.

Distriict 2:
Incumbent Democrat Elaine Luria (D) wins her party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, four Republicans battle for the nomination. Notable Republicans include Air Force veteran Tommy Altman (R), Navy veteran Andy Baan (R), Navy veteran Jarome Bell (R), and Virginia State Senator Jennifer Kiggans (R). The winner of the Republican Primary and Elaine Luria will take on Garry Hubbard (G) in the general election.

District 3:
Incumbent Democrat Robert C. Scott (D) wins his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, licensed minister Ted Engquist (R) takes on Osan-Ri military base native Terry Namkung (R).

District 4:
This district is already in the general election as incumbent Democrat Aston Donald "Donald" McEachin (D) takes on Navy veteran Leon Benjamin Sr. (R).

Diistrict 5:
Incumbent Republican Bob Good (R) takes on Dan May (R) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Joshua Throneburg wins the Democratic primary uncontested.

District 6:
Incumbent Republican Benjamin Lee Cline (R) takes on Navy veteran Merritt Hale (R). Democrats are not running in this district. The winner of the Republican primary takes on unknown Danny LeBeau (I).

District 7:
Incumbent Democrat Abigail Spanberger (D) runs unopposed in her party's primary. Meanwhile, there are six Republicans contesting the nomination. Notable Republicans include history teacher Gina Ciarcia (R) and Virginia State Senator Bryce Reeves (R).

District 8:
Incumbent Democrat Donald Sternoff Beyer Jr. (D) takes on graduate from Stanford University Victoria Virasingh (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, there are five Republicans running for their party's nomination. Notable Republicans include economist and political activist Monica Carpio (R), Army veteran Jeff Jordan (R), registered nurse Heerak Christian Kim (R), and graduate from Johns Hopkins University Karina Lipsman (R).

District 9:
This seat is already determined. Incumbent Republican H. Morgan Griffith wins the seat unopposed.

District 10:
Incumbent Democrat Jennifer Wexton wins her party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, there are 11 Republicans running for their party's nomination. Notable Republicans include Loudoun County School Board member John Beatty (R), Navy veteran Hung Cao (R), small business owner Theresa Coates Ellis (R), and Air Force veteran John Henley (R).

District 11:
This district is already in the general election as a result of a Republican firehouse primary on the 10th. Incumbent Democrat Gerald Edward Connolly (D) takes on Air Force veteran James Myles (R).
