Breaking Down the Pennsylvania Candidate Filing Deadline

Now that Ballotpedia has updated the candidates for Pennsylvania, here's a look at who's running in the primaries.

Senate:
This is an open seat. The Democratic primary has four candidates, while the Republican primary has seven. Notable Democrats include Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania John Fetterman (D), Pennsylvania State Representative Malcom Kenyatta (D), and 2020-2022 Representative Conor Lamb (D). Notable Republicans include veteran Kathy Barnette (R), former candidate for Lieutenant Governor Jeff Bartos (R), veteran David McCormick (R), television doctor and author Mehmet "Oprah" Oz (R), and 2016 Republican convention delegate for Trump Carla Sands (R). The winners of the two primaries will go on to face unknowns Erik Chase Gerhardt (L) and Quincy Magee (I), and former CEO and intelligence director Everett Stern (I) in the general election.

House:
District 1:
Unknown Democrat Ashley Ehasz (D) runs unopposed in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, Incumbent Republican Brian Fitzpatrick (R) runs against unknown Alex Entin (R). The winners of these primaries will square off RV parts tech Henry Conoly (G) and personal antiquities buyer Caroline Avery (L).

District 2:
This district is already in the general election phase as Democratic Incumbent Brendan Boyle (D) takes on accountant, adjunct professor, and entrepreneur Aaron Bashir (R).

District 3:
This is a general election primary with four Democrats. Incumbent Dwight Evans (D) takes on three others. Notable Democrats include labor union organizer and political director Michael Cogbill (D), public health research Alexandra Hunt (D), and unknown Melvin Prince Johnakin (D).

District 4:
Incumbent Democrat Madeleine Dean (D) runs unopposed in her primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Daniel Burton JR. takes on unknown Republican Christian Nascimento (R). The winner of the Republican primary and Ms. Dean will take on unknown Juriss Kallatar (L).

District 5:
The district is already in the general election phase as incumbent Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon (D) runs against Navy veteran David Galluch (R) and unknown Robert Margus (L).

District 6:
Incumbent Democrat Chrissy Houlahan runs unopposed in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, there are four Republicans running in their primary. Notable Republicans include Villanova law school graduate Guy Ciarrocchi (R), and realtor Ron Vogel (R)

District 7:
Incumbent Democrat Susan Wild (D) runs unopposed in her party's primary. Meanwhile, Republican veteran Kevin Dellicker (R) takes on unknown Republican Lisa Scheller (R).

District 8:
Incumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright (D) runs unopposed in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Jim Bognet (R) takes on former 2018 Democratic candidate for the 11th District Mike Marsicano (R -- no I did not typo).

District 9:
The district is already in the general election phase as unopposed incumbent Republican Dan Meuser (R) takes on unopposed Medical appeals representative Amanda Waldman (D).

District 10:
Incumbent Republican Scott Perry (R) is unopposed in his party's primary. Meanwhile, former candidate for the Pennsylvania Senate Rick Coplen (D) takes on Harrisburg Councilwoman Shamaine Daniels (D) in the Democratic primary.

District 11:
This district is already in the general election phase as unopposed incumbent Republican Lloyd Smucker (R) takes on unknown Democrat Robert Hollister (D).

District 12:
The district is an open seat. Unknown Republican Michael Doyle (not to be confused with PA-18's Michael Doyle (D) ) runs unopposed in the Republican primary. Meanwhile, there are five Democrats in their party's primary. Notable Democrats include Pennsylvania State Representative Summer Lee (D) and former 2015 Allegheny County Magisterial District candidate Jeff Woodard (D).

District 13:
Incumbent Republican John Joyce (R) wins the district unopposed.

District 14:
Incumbent Republican Guy Reschenthaler (R) wins the district unopposed.

District 15:
Incumbent Republican Glenn Thompson (R) takes on volunteer servant leader for the Family Research Council's (FRC) prayer mission George Rathmell (R). The winner here takes on Democratic Write-in Candidate Ronnie Ray Jenkins (D)

District 16:
Republican Incumbent Mike Kelly runs unopposed in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Democrat Dan Pastore (D) takes on former 2022 District 15 candidate Rick Telesz (D).

District 17:
This is an open seat. Unknown Democrat Christopher Deluzio (D) takes on unknown Democratic Sean Meloy (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Kathleen Coder (R) takes on Pittsburgh, PA native Jason Killmeyer (R) and unknown Republican Jeremy Shaffer (R0 in the Republican primary.


Governor:
Democratic Attorney General Josh Shapiro (D) runs unopposed in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, there is a nine-candidate Republican primary. Notable Republicans include former PA-11 Representative Lou Barletta (R), Pennsylvania State Senate Jake Corman (R), national co-chair of the 2016 Carly Fiorina Campaign Charlie Gerow (R), and Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano (R), Shapiro and the winner of the Republican primary will face unknown Christina Olson (GPP*), Army National Guard veteran Matt Hackenburg (L), and former 2020 Pennsylvania State Treasurer candidate Joseph Soloski (I).

Senate:
John Fetterman (D) won the Democratic primary with 58.6% of the vote or 751,521 votes. Meanwhile, Mehmet Oz (R) won the Republican priimary with 31.2% of the vote or 419,854 votes. They advance to the general election where they will face Army veteran Ronald Johnson (CP*), unknown Richard Weiss (G), lawyer Daniel Wassmer (KPP^), unknown Eriik Chase Gerhardt (L), unknown Quincy Magee (I), and CEO and director of a private intelligency agency Everett Stern (II).

House:
District 1:
Republican incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick (R) wins his party's primary with 69.0% of the vote. Meanwhile, Ashley Ehasz (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed. Brian Fitzpatrick (R) and Ashley Ehasz (D) will face off against Henry Conoly (G) and Caroline Avery (L) in the general election.

District 2:
Incumbent Democrat Brendan Boyle (D) wins his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, Aaron Bashir (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed.

District 3:
Incumbent Democrat Dwight Evans (D) won with 89.3% of the vote or 38,353 votes. Meanwhile, unknown Christopher Hoeppner (SWP†) got in at the last minute. There is no Republican candidate.

District 4:
Incumbent Democrat Madeline Dean (D) won her party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, unknown Christian Nascimento won the Republican primary with 68.3% of the vote or 41,375 votes. Madeline Dean (D) and Christian Nascimento (R) will face Juriss Kallatar (L) in the general election.

District 5:
Incumbent Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon (D) won her party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, David Galluch (R) won the Republican party's primary unopposed. Mary Gay Scanlon (D) and David Galluch (R) will face Robert Margus (L) in the the general election.

District 6:
Incumbent Democrat Chrissy Houlahan (D) won her party's primary unoppposed. Meanwhile, Guy Ciarrocchi (R) won the Republican primary with 23,175 votes.

District 7:
Incumbent Democrat Susan Wild (D) won her party's pirmary unopposed. Meanwhile, unknown Lisa Scheller defeated Air Force veteran KEvin Dellicker in the Republican primary with 51.3% of the vote or 34,384 votees.

District 8:
Incumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright (D) won his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, unknown Jim Bognet (R) won with 68.9% of the vote or 44,192 votes.

Diistrict 9:
Republican Dan Meuser (R) wins his party's primary unopposeed. Meanwhile, Amanda Waldman (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed.

District 10:
Republican incumbent Scott Perry (R) wins his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, Sharmaine Daniels (D) wins the Democratic primary with 52.5% of the vote or 31,999 votes.

District 11:
Republican incumbent Lloyd Smucker (R) won his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, Bob Hollister (D) won his party's primary unopposed.

District 12:
Michael Doyle (R) wins the Republican primary uncontested. Meanwhile, Summer Lee (D) wins the Democratic primary with 41.9% of the vote or 47,658 votes.

District 13:
Republican incumbent John Joyce (R) wins hiis party's primary uncontested. There were no other candidates, so this is a Republican seat after the General Election. Interestingly, 270towin shows someone else running, but Ballotpedia does not.

District 14:
Republican incumbent Guy Reschaenthaler (R) wins his party's primary uncontested. There were no other candidates, so this is a Republican seat after the General Election.

District 15:
Republican incumbent Glenn Thompson (R) wins his party's primary uncontested. There were no other candidates, so this is a Republican seat after the General Election.

District 16:
Republican incumbent Mike Kelly (R) wins his party's primary uncontested. Meanwhile, Erie, PA native defeated former 2022 candidate for District 15 Rick Telesz (D) with 69.2% of the vote or 39,032 votes.

District 17:
Christopher Deluzio (D) wins the Democratic primary with 63.3% or 55,684 votes. Meanwhile, Jeremy Schaffer (R) won the Republican priimary with 58.7% of the vote or 39,208 votes. Christopher Delzuio (D) and Jeremy Schaffer (R) wiill face former 2022 candidate for Senate Walter Sluynsky (I) in the general election.

Governor:
Doug Mastriano (R) wins the Republican primary with 42.3% of the vote or 231,922 votes. Meanwhile, Josh Shapiro (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed. Doug Mastriano (R) and Josh Shapiro (D) will face Christina Digiullo (G), Joseph Soloski (KPP), and former Army National Guardsman Matt Hackenburg (L).
