Breaking Down the New York Candidate Filing Deadline

NOTE: The redistricting map was rejected by the Court of Appeals in New York. Boundaries (and possibly district numbers) are subject to change as a result.

Senate:
Incumbent Democrat and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) takes on financial regulator Moses Mugulusi (D) and the CEO of the American Human Rights Organization Khaled Salem (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, there is a six-candidate Republican primary. Notable Republicans include Port Chester, NY Native Tyrrell Lev Sharif Ben-Avi (R), businessman and entrepreneur Joshua Eisen (R), former 2021 New York City Council candidate Alex Mici (R), and local television host Mark Szuszkiewicz (R). The winners of these primaries will face unknown Vivika Alexander (NP), unknown Mohammed Ahmed (VPA*), former 2020 House candidate for the 9th District Joel Anabilah-Azumah (I), concurrent House candidate Nicholas Mantanona (I), unknown Walter Masterson (I), unknown Luca Mascimbene (I), and political organizer and fundraiser Diane Sare (I).

House:
District 1:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Party cross-nominee Nydia Velazquez (D) faces off against 10 others in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, five Republicans face off in their party's primary. Notable Democrats include support staff member John Atkinson (D) and Suffolk County legislator Bridget M. Fleming (D). Notable Republicans include Conservative Party cross-nominee Nicholas J. Lalota (R) and Army veteran Edward Moore (R).

District 2:
Incumbent Republican and Conservative Party cross-endorsee Andrew Garbarino (R) takes on Army veteran Robert Cornicelli (R) and veteran and NYPD detective Mike Rakebrandt (R) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, Unknown William Hoist (D) takes on 2020 candidate for the same seat Mike Sax (D) in the Democratic primary.

District 3:
This is an open seat. Economist George Devolder-Santos (R) runs unopposed in the Republican primary and is cross-endorsed by the Conservative Party. Meanwhile, eight Democrats square off in their primary. Notable Democrats include New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D), medical school graduate from Long Island University Melanie D'Arrigo (D), 2016 candidate for the same seat Jon Kaiman (D), founder of SAY WE Reema Rasool (D), 2020 candidate for the New York Assembly Francisco Spies (D), and 2016 superdelegate at the Democratic National Convention Robert Zimmerman (D).

District 4:
This is an open seat. Unknown Bill Stanford runs unopposed in the Republican primary. Meanwhile, six Democrats compete for their party's nomination. The Democrat is physician Muzib Huq (D). The rest are unknowns.

District 5:
Incumbent Democrat Gregory W. Meeks (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed. Meanwhile, management consulting partner Paul King (R) takes on logistics coordinator Amit Lal (R) in the Republican primary. Meeks and the winner of the Republican primary will take on unknown Nader Akhlaghy (PFP^) in the generation election.

District 6:
This district is already in the general election season with Puerto Rico civil defense veteran Jesus Gonzalez (R) taking on unknown Christopher Fuentes-Padilla (L).

District 7:
This district has already been decided. 2018 New York State Assembly candidate Juan Pagan (R) wins unopposed.

District 8:
Incumbent Democrat Hakeem Jeffries (D) takes on nonprofit co-founder Queen Johnson (D) and Corpus Christi, TX native Clementine Vasquez (D) in his party's primary. There are no Republicans running. The winner of this primary will face the CEO of Mannixlab Productions Brian Mannix (D).

District 9:
This is a general election primary. Democratic incumbent Yvette D. Clarke (D) takes on unknown Steven Green (D) in the Democratic primary. The winner will become the Representative from District 9.

District 10:
Incumbent Democrat Jerrold Nadler (D) takes on five candidates in his party's primary. Meanwhile, risk analyst Benine Hamdan (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed. Notable Democrats include Navy veteran Patrick Dooley (D), current candidate for Florida's 25th District (No that's not a typo) Ian Medina (D), Tulane University undergraduate Brian Robinson (D), and graduate from Columbia University Ashmi Sheth (D).

District 11:
Republican incumbent and cross-endorsee of the Conservative Party Nicole Malliotakis (R) takes on unknown John Matland (R) and unknown Andrew Wolfe (R) in her party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Komi Agoda-Koussema (D) takes on Army veteran Brittany Ramos DeBarros (D) and former U.S. Representative from New York's 11th District Max Rose (D) in the Democratic Primary.

District 12:
Incumbent Democrat Caroline B. Malone (D) takes on six candidates in her party's primary. Meanwhile, Conservative Party cross-endorsee Mike Zumbluskas (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed. Notable Democrats include former 2022 gubernatorial candidate (not a typo) Vladimy Joseph (D) co-founder of FAIR and PLACE NYC Maud Maron (D), and co-founder of Creative Caucus Suraj Patel (D).

District 13:
Incumbent Democrat Adriano Espallat (D) takes on unknown Lindsey Williams in his party's primary. There are no Republicans running, so the winner of this primary will take on 2022 U.S. Senate candidate (not a typo) Nicholas Mantanona (I)

District 14:
Incumbent Democrat, "Squad" member, and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ("AOC") (D) takes on unknown Edgardo Marrero (D) in her party's primary. Meanwhile, four Republicans square off for their party's nomination. Notable Republicans include Conservative Party cross-endorsee Desi Cuellar (R), pastor Pura De Jesus-Coniglio (R), and 2020 candidate and former independents Miguel Hernandez (R).

District 15:
This district has already been determined. Incumbent Democrat Ritchie Torres (D) wins unopposed.

District 16:
Democratic incumbent and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Jamaal Bowman (D) takes on former 2018 New York Assembly candidate Vedat Gashi (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, 2018 Republican nominee for the same seat Patrick Delices (R) takes on Bronx native and Conservative cross-endorsee William Faulkner (Not the dead author) (R) in the Republican primary.

District 17:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Mondaire Jones (D) takes on Army veteran Michael Panettii (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Charles Falciglia (R) takes on Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Jack Schrepel (R) in the Republican primary.

District 18:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Sean Maloney (D) takes on unknown Michael Berean (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, New York State Assemblyman and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Colin J. Schmitt (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed.

District 19:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Antonio Delgado (D) wins his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, unknown Brandon Buccola (R) takes on former gubernatorial candidate and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Marcus Molinaro (R).

District 20:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Paul Tonko (D) takes on three challengers in his party's primary. Meanwhile, licensed real estate employee and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Elizabeth Joy (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed. Notable Democrats include music teacher Jack Fallon-Underwood (D) and nonprofit immigration attorney Rostislav Rar (D).

District 21:
Incumbent Republican and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Elise Stefanik (R) takes on driver Lonny Koons (R) in her party's primary. Meanwhile, four unknown Democrats square off in their party's primary.

District 22:
This is an open district. Seven Democrats compete for their party's nomination. Meanwhile, Tompkins County legislator Mike Sigler (R) takes on Navy veteran and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Brandon Williams (R) in the Republican primary. Trumpers might be confused by their "Let's Go Brandon" slogan for this one :p. Notable Democrats include Navy Reserves commander Francis Conole (D), U.S. Air Force veteran Sarah Klee Hood (D), admissions counselor and Binghamton University Mikayla Ridley (D), Working Families Cross-Endorsee Josh Riley (D), commissioner of the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance Sam Roberts (D).

District 23:
Incumbent Republican Claudia Tenney (R) takes on five Republicans in her party's primary. Meanwhile, 2018 candidate for the same seat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Max Della Pia (D) wins the Democratic primary uncontested. Notable Republicans include Navy and Coast Guard veteran George Burns (R) and 2016 candidate for the 22nd District George Phillips (R).

District 24:
Incumbent Republican and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Christopher Jacobs (R) takes on four Republicans. Meanwhile, Army veteran Steven Holden (D) takes on unknown Chol-Awan Majok (D) and unknown Shelley Skellington (D). The notable Republicans is Air Force veteran Andrew McCarthy (R). The rest are unknowns.

District 25:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Joseph Morelle (D) wins his party's primary unopposed. Meanwhile, unknown La'Ron Singletary (R) takes on Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee LaRon Singletary (R). I have no clue if these are the same people. I have reached out to Ballotpedia on Twitter and will let you know.

District 26:
Incumbent Democrat and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Brian Higgins (D) takes on 2014 candidate for the same seat Eli Eddie Egriu (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, Army veteran and Conservative Party Cross-Endorsee Steven Sams (R) wins the Republican primary unopposed.

Governor:
Democratic Incumbent and Cuomo replacement Kathy Hochul (D) takes on five challengers in her party's primary. Meanwhile, eight Republican candidates square off for their party's nomination. Notable Democrats include Queens, NY native Nicholae Albert Bunea (D), Founder of Social Uplift Knowledge Hope Initiatives (SUKHI) New York Agha Saleh (D), retiring U.S. Representative Tom Suozzi (D), and New York Public Advocate and Working Families Cross-Endorsee Jumaane Williams (D). Notable Republicans include 2014 Gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino (R), son of former NYC Mayor Rudi Giuliani, Andrew Giuliani (R), and current House Representative from my old Congressional District Lee Zeldin (R).
