Breaking Down the New Jersey Candidate Filing Deadline

Unlike many of the states this year, New Jersey only has House seats up for election.

District 1:
Incumbent Democrat Donald Norcross (D) takes on middle and high school teacher Mario DeSantis (D) in the Democratic primary. Unknown Republican Damon Galdo (R) takes on unknown Claire Gustafson (R) in the Republican Primary.

District 2:
Incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew (R) takes on Army veteran John Barker (R) and small business owner Sean Pignatelli (R) in the Republican Party. Meanwhile, attorney Tim Alexander (D) and Lockheed Martin engineer Carolyn Rush (D) face off in the Democratic primary.

District 3:
Incumbent Democrat Andrew Kim (D) takes on unknown Reuven Hendler (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Nicholas Ferrara (R), unknown Republican Bob Healey (R), and and unknown Republican Ian Smith compete in the Republican primary.

District 4:
District 4 has a general election primary. No Democrats and Republican Incumbent Chris Smith (R) and three other challengers are running for the seat. Notable Republicans include talk show host Mike Crispi (R) and former FBI agent Steve Gray (R).

District 5:
Incumbent Democrat Josh Gotheimer (D) runs unopposed in his party's primary. Meanwhile, there is a four-candidate Republican primary with all unknowns.

District 6:
Incumbent Democrat Frank Pallone, Jr. (D) runs unopposed in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Susan Kiley (R), owner of R & R Strategies Nik Mehta (R), and unknown Tom Toomey (R) square off in the Republican primary.

District 7:
Incumbent Democrat Tom Malinowski (D) takes on production mechanic technician and realtor Roger Bacon (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, there is a seven-candidate Republican primary. Notable candidates include youth minister Kevin Dorlon (R), Renaissance man Josh Issemann (R), former New Jersey State Senator Thomas Kean Jr. (R), New Jersey State General Assemblyman Erik Peterson (R), and pastor Phillip Rizzo (R).

District 8:
Unknown Democrat Robert Menendez, Jr., (Not the incumbent Senator) (D) takes on bachelor's degree holder from NYU David Ocampo Grajales (D) and owner of One-E Records Ane Roseborough-Eberhard (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican Marcos Arroyo (R) takes on Seton Hall attendee Ana Rivera (R) in the Republican primary.

District 9:
This district is already in the General Election phase as Incumbent Democrat Bill Pascrell (D) takes on marketer and salesman Billy Prempeh (R).

District 10:
Incumbent Democrat Donald Payne, Jr. (D) takes on unknown Democrat Akil Khalfani (D) and dean of movement building with Movement School Imani Oakley (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, unknown Republican David Pinckney (R) takes on unknown Republican Garth Stewart (R) in the Republican primary.

District 11:
Incumbent Democrat Mikie Sherrill (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed. Meanwhile, there is a five-candidate Republican primary. The notable Republican is the Vice President of Procurement and Real Estate with Lincoln Education Services Tayfun Selen (R). The rest are unknowns.

District 12:
The district is already in the General Election phase as incumbent Democrat Bonnie Watson Coleman (D) takes on unknown Republican Darius Mayfield (R).
