Breaking Down the Missouri Candidate Filing Deadline

Ballotpedia just finished updating the Missouri candidates for the primary. So, let's get started.

Senate:
This is an open seat. 11 Democrats are running in their primary, while 21 Republicans run in theirs. Notable Democrats include former 2012 House candidate for the 6th Congressional District Ronald William Harris (D), Air Force veteran Jewel Kelly, Jr. (D), Marine Corps veteran Lucas Kunce (D), operations assistant for the Washington University Department of Otolaryngology Lewis Rolen (D), former 2020 House candidate for the 6th Congressional District Gena Ross (D), clinical exercise physiologist Joshua Shipp (D), Los Angeles native Clarence Taylor (D), and St. Louis native Spencer Toder (D). Notable Republicans include St. Louis native C.W. Gardner (R), disgraced former governor Eric Greitens (R), Representative from the 4th District Vicky Harttzler (R), Representative from the 7th District Billy Long (R), Missouri State Senator Dave Schatz (R), and Attorney General of Missouri Eric Schmitt (R). The winners of these primaries will face former 2012 Senate candidate Jonathan Dine (L), unknown Paul Venable (CP*), former Democrat Ronald Deets (I), unknown Steve Price (I), and certified system administrator Nicholas Strauss (I).

House
District 1:
Incumbent Democrat Cori Bush (D) takes on four challengers in her party's primary. Meanwhile, former 2017 Mayoral candidate Andrew Jones, Jr. (R) takes on unknowns Steven Jordan (R) and Laura Mitchell-Riley (R). The notable Democrat includes Missouri State Senator Steve Roberts (D). The rest are unknown. The winners of these two primaries take on unknown George Zsidisin (L).

District 2:
Incumbent Republican Ann Wagner takes on three challengers in her party's primary. Meanwhile, Missouri State Representative Tries Gunby (D) takes on unknowns Raymond Reed (D) and Ben Samuels (D) in the Democratic primary. Notable Republicans include 2016 candidate for the 1st District Paul Berry (R) and Army veteran Wesley Smith (R). The winners of the primaries will take on the owner and founder of the W.G. Slantz company, Bill Slantz (L) in the general election.

District 3:
Incumbent Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer (R) takes on four challengers in his party's primary. Meanwhile, Andrew Daly and three other unknown Democrats battle it out for their party's nomination. Notable Republicans include Marine Corps veteran Dustin Hill (R) and truck driver Brandon Wilkinson (R).

District 4:
This is an open seat. 8 Republicans flight for the nomination. Meanwhile, 2016 candidate for the same seat Jack Truman (D) wins the Democratic primary unopposed. Notable Republicans include Missouri State Senator Rick Brattin (R), U.S. Naval War College graduate William Irwin (R), Lake Ozard, MO native Kyle LaBrue (R), and Missouri State Representative Sara Walsh (R). The winners of the primaries will face 2012 candidate for the same seat Rand Langkraehr (L) in the general election.

District 5:
Incumbent Democrat Emanuel Cleaver (D) takes on unknown Maite Salazar (D) in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Jerry Barham (R) takes on 2017 Independent candidate for the Missouri State Senate Jacob Turk (R) and 2016 Libertarian candidate for the U.S. Senate Herschel Young (R). District 6:
Incumbent Republican Sam Graves (R) takes on 4 others in his party's primary. Meanwhile, unknown Michael Howard (D), Army veteran Henry Martin (D), and automation and electrical account engineer Charles West (D) in the Democratic primary. Notable Republicans include U.S. Marine Corps veteran Christopher Ryan (R) and lead software developer Dakota Shultz (R). The winners of the primaries take on network security analyst Edward Anders Maidment (L).

District 7:
This is another open seat. 8 Republicans square off in their primary. Meanwhile, unknown Bryce Lockwood (D), unknown Kristen Radaker-Sheafer (D), and unknown John Woodman square off in the Democratic primary. Notable Republicans include Missouri State Senator Eric Burlison (R), Missouri State Senator Mike Moon (R), knowledge manager at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Audrey Richards (R), and former Missouri State Senator Jay Wasson (R). District 8:
