Breaking down the Maryland Filing Candidate Deadline

Senate:
Incumbent Democrat Chris Van Hollen (D) takes on unknown Democrat Jaden Thomas Farris (D) and senior Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) policy analyst Michelle Smith (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, there is a ten-candidate Republican primary. Notable Republicans include former 2018 Senate candidate Chris Chaffee (R), information technology contractor Nnabu Eze (R), and business entrepreneur Reba Hawkins (R).

House:
District 1:
Incumbent Republican Andrew Harris wins his primary unopposed. Meanwhile, former member of the U.S. Foreign Service Dave Harden (D) takes on former member of the Maryland State House of Delegates Heather Mizeur (D) and unknown Democrat Matt Talley (D).

District 2:
Incumbent Democrat Dutch Ruppersberger (D) takes on three challengers. Meanwhile, there are six Republicans competing in their primary. Notable Democrats include Air Force veteran Marques Dent (D), and former 2020 candidate for Mayor of Baltimore Liri Fusha (D). Notable Republicans include former national committeewoman for the Republican Party of Maryland Nicolee Ambrose (R), United States Air Force War College graduate Bernard Flowers (R), former 2018 candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates Michael Geppi (R), former 2018 candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates Ellen McNulty (R), and former House candidate for the 2nd District Dave Wallace (R).

District 3:
Incumbent Democrat John Sarbanes (D) takes on five challengers. Meanwhile, five Republicans vie for the nomination. The other notable Democrat is small business owner Jake Pretot (D). Notable Republicans include brand manager Antonio Pitocco (R) and Air Force veteran Amal Torres (R).

District 4:
This is an open seat. Former 2020 candidate for the same seat Eric Loeb (R) takes on former 2020 candidate for the same seat George McDermott (R) and unknown Republican Jeff Warner (R). Meanwhile, there is a nine-candidate Democratic primary. Notable Democrats include former member of the Maryland State House of Delegates Angela Angel (D), former Representative from the same seat Donna Edwards (D), former 2016 candidate for the same seat Matthew Fogg (D), former Republican (no that is not a typo) candidate for US Senate Greg Holmes (D -- again, not a typo), and bus operator Kim Shelton (D).

District 5:
Incumbent Democrat Steny Hoyer (D) takes on three challengers. Meanwhile, there is a seven-candidate Republican primary. The notable Democrat is former 2020 House candidate for the same seat Mckayla Wilkes (D). The rest are unknowns. Notable Republicans include former 2020 candidate for the same seat Bryan Duval Cubero (R), small business owner Vanessa Marie Hoffman (R), former 2014 Maryland State House of Delegates candidate Tonii Jarboe-Duley (R), and former 2020 candidate for the same seat Chris Palombi (R).

District 6:
Incumbent Democratic David Trone (D) takes on three challengers. Meanwhile, there is a six-candidate Republican primary. Notable Democrats include social action chair of Kol Shalom Congregation in Rockville George Gluck (D) and founder and executive director of the Disaster Accountability Project and SmartRespeonse.org. Ben Smilowitz (D). Notable Republicans include former 2022 Candidate for the Maryland State House of Delegates Colt Black (R), member of the Maryland State House of Delegates Neil Parrott (R), and Air Force veteran Mariela Roca (R). The winners of the two primaries will face Army veteran David August (I) in the General Election.

District 7:
Incumbent Democrat Kweisi Mfume (D) takes on unknown Democrats Tashi Davis (D) and Elihu Eli Eli (D). Meanwhile, there is a four-candidate Republican primary. Notable Republicans include Jessup, Maryland native Ray Bly (R), media entrepreneur Scott M. Collier (R), and former 2018 House candidate fpr the same seat Michael Pearson (R).

District 8:
Incumbent Democrat Jamie Raskin (D) takes on unknown Democrat Andalib Odulate (D) in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, Masters degree holder for the Stevens Institute of Technology Gregory Coll (R) takes on civiil engineering project manager firm owner Michael Yadeta (R). The winners of these two primaries will take on software consultant Andrés Garcia (L) in the general election.

Governor:
Four Republicans vie for this open seat, and so do ten Democrats. Notable Republicans include Maryland House of Delegates member Dan Cox (R), former member of the Maryland House of Delegates Robin Ficker (R), and former Maryland Secretary of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Kelly Schulz (R). Notable Democrats include 2018 gubernatorial candidate Rushern Baker III (D), Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot (D), former Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler (D), former U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King, and former DNC Chairman Tom Perez (D). The winners of these two primaries will go on to face IT executive David Lashar (L) and unknown Kyle Sefcik (I).
