Nonsense ... unless you can prove that Bolsonaro followed the same steps and timeline that Trump had imposed
Here we go
• Trump did not "ban travel," not even close.
430,000 people flew from China to the US (many from Wuhan) after the virus was discovered and before Trump restricted travel to US citizens, green card holders, and relatives thereof. 2 months after the "ban," another
40,000 flew directly from China to the US.rictions.
• Travel bans don't work anyway, as the Trump restriction shows. By the time they are put in place, it's almost always too late. And of course, the virus doesn't care about borders; e.g. New York was hit by a strain of COVID-19 that came from Europe, not from China.
• To put it mildly, the administration belly-flopped on testing. We are 5 months into this, and the US
still doesn't have adequate testing.
• Trump didn't do jack about ventilators, except screw it up. It turned out that they just weren't as necessary as we expected in the first few weeks.
• The administration
completely screwed up with PPE. 5 months into this crisis and we
STILL don't have enough PPE (

• The federal government didn't cancel non-essential surgeries or surge hospital beds. States did that.
• The biggest attempt by the federal government to help set up extra hospital capacity were failures. E.g. the USS Comfort and the temporary hospital at the Javits Center flopped, because they were too restrictive on the patients they'd accept, and were set up too fast. It was easier for hospitals to
literally keep patients on gurneys in the halls than send them out.
• The federal government didn't close non-essential businesses (it can't do that), and they were way behind states and the public in recommending closures. Trump was also pushing to open up
waaaay before it was safe. Remember when he wanted everything back to normal by Easter?
• The federal government didn't block large gatherings (it can't do that), states did that. Trump was also, again, pushing to allow gatherings way before it was safe.
• The federal government
definitely did not close any schools (it can't do that), and was late to suggest it.
• Trump did sign the stimulus measures, but had nothing to do with writing them. Congress shoved veto-proof bills onto his desk.
You also forgot:
• He spent
months denying the oncoming storm of the virus (as has Bolsonaro)
• He spent months calling it a "hoax" and "nothing more than the flu" (as has Bolsonaro)
• He has undermined social distancing and emphasized the economy, which is absurd because no one is going to go bowling when bodies are piling up at mass graves (as has Bolsonaro)
• Used the virus to attack his political enemies (as has Bolsonaro)
• Engaged in inflammatory and divisive discourse for his own political benefit (as has Bolsonaro)
• Touted hydroxychloroquinine, despite a lack of sufficient evidence for it (as has Bolsonaro)
• Dumped on the relevant science and experts (as has Bolsonaro)
The only thing Bolsonaro has done that Trump hasn't is keep up the big rallies. Don't worry though, that's in the pipeline.
Go ahead, tell us again how Bolsonaro isn't working from the same blueprint as Trump.
