Are you? Just curious.

Our Target stores here are fantastic and very generous in providing support towards local causes within our Community. I support them back and shop there if the need arises.

I spent too much time on my poll choices and missed the window to add the poll. :(

Options were:

1. Yes, for as long as necessary.
2. Yes, but only until I need something from there.
3. Why would I do that? I hate Walmart.
4. Thinking about it.
5. Nope.

Do you want me to add it?

No. A store's political stance is so far down the list of reasons why I would or wouldn't shop there that it never comes up.

If I want/need something and Target is the cheapest/most convenient place to get it, I'll go there and get it.

Please and I'm totally fine if you just want to make it a simple yes/no, as long as there's a slam against Walmart in there somewhere (joking about that, but I really do hate Walmart).

Fixed it for you X.

I saw it mentioned in another thread. Something about their potty policy.

Yes, I've heard. Here's a bizarre case of mind bending stupidity. I have a client who is an FTM transsxual. He is married. His wife has parents. Those parents are boycotting Target because of their policy of allowing transsexuals in the bathroom of the gender of which they identify... yet they still say they love their daughter's husband and fully support him and his transsexuality. They are boycotting due to their faith... interesting since transsexuality is not mentioned in the bible. This is a great example the idiotic hoops and insanity of logic that some people are jumping through in order to support their bias and ignorance.

So, here's my question for you. What do you think of the position of the parents in the example I gave? Does it seem consistent? Does it seem logical?

You won THAT one. ;)

Makes a change. Sigh..

I saw X's post and fixed it for him, I must have been doing that when you posted, I didn't see your post until it was fixed.

I have to use my time displacement device more liberally so things like this won't happen. :2razz:

Yeah, that's exactly what happened.

I remember the controversy around Chick Fil A and right around then, Oreo came out with a rainbow centered cookie. I made it a point to get a chicken sandwich, some rainbow Oreos and a Starbucks frap to wash it all down. I felt very involved that day.

There are only two pasta companies who make decent gluten-free pasta; Barilla and Ronzoni. Someone told me that Barilla was anti-gay. I eat Ronzoni... because it's less expensive and they have rotini, my family's been eating Ronzoni for ages, and it's usually about .25 cheaper in these parts. But I have had the Barilla anyway, and it's pretty good. Point is, I'm not so concerned with the political stances of companies since it's so diffuse. Barilla may be anti-gay, but my supermarket is not. Not really a big deal to me.

Buy Made in USA - quit the cheap crap

I buy lots of products made in the US, when it makes economic sense to do so. If the US made product is better quality or lasts longer than something made overseas, I'll gladly buy it (or at least I'll buy it assuming it's something that I need to last awhile). But I'm not paying a premium just so I can say I bought stuff that says "Made in the USA" on it.

In complete sincerity, none of this dust up makes any sense to me. Why did folks start caring oh so much about this? I think there's still resentment over SSM so now this is the new battle, I guess. I wish I could convince other conservatives that are so angst ridden over all this that they're just tying themselves in knots over nothing.

To your example specifically, it makes eve less sense. Even assuming they're convinced they're acting in the way God wants them to (which I wouldn't really object to - folks can choose which businesses they do or don't want to deal with for any reason they want), they are supporting it for their son in law. While I think it good and right that they are supporting their son in law, I don't know how they justify doing that only to boycott Target for making it a point to accommodate folks just like the person they're claiming they do support. Either they haven't thought this through or they're really not as supportive as they claim and they're using this as a way to dig at him.

One of the biggest things killing our economy..

Buy Made in USA - quit the cheap crap

I'll go for the best quality at the best price regardless of where it's manufactured.

I agree 100%. I posted something like that earlier tonight. This entire thing is a butthurt response from conservatives upset over losing the SSM war. This was NEVER an issue before a few weeks ago. I've been dealing with this issue with clients for YEARS and I have never had a problem with any of them. No one uses the bathroom of the gender of which they identify unless the present, convincingly. No one draws attention to themselves because they are uncomfortable enough that they may not "pass". ALL of the transsexuals I work with are very considerate of the feelings of non-trans people. Most are quite passive and don't want to make any waves at all. They just want to be accepted and go about their lives like everyone else. Moron conservatives who are making this an issue are completely ignorant and uneducated about this population. And, as you implied, they are making themselves and many other conservatives look vindictive and stupid.

To your example specifically, it makes eve less sense. Even assuming they're convinced they're acting in the way God wants them to (which I wouldn't really object to - folks can choose which businesses they do or don't want to deal with for any reason they want), they are supporting it for their son in law. I spoke with he and his wife about this extensively, last weekend. We came to the same conclusion that you did. They are questioning whether the parents are as supportive as they claim. My client's wife is PISSED and is trying to contain herself. My client is really hurt and more self conscious. He was doing better with his GDD, but this has retriggered him to some extent. I have no issue with someone acting on their faith, but they are being inconsistent and hypocritical.

Doesn't make any sense to me X. Why boycott a store that is only trying to make ALL their potential customers feel welcome. If a person has a problem with the policy, then they can shop at Target and pee at home. Or, go to another store and pee. I can't remember the last time I went into a public restroom that wasn't in a restaurant or bar. I go to Target to shop, not to ****.

My wife, Yes Ma'am, had a long conversation with one of her cousins today about NC HB2. The cousin was all in favor of the new law, and was totally wrong about every reason she gave as to why. Yes Ma'am said it was all she could do not to set her straight, which would have probably torn their relationship apart - sometimes it's best to remain silent. My point is, there are so many people out there that honestly misunderstand what the issues actually are, and what the facts are as well. Trans folks are not perverts, and perverts aren't going to be able to use these laws as an excuse to get pervy in the ladies restroom, no matter what folks may hear on TV or at Wednesday night prayer meeting (which is where Yes Ma'am's cousin was educated in the issue).

I don't shop at target due to their anti union stance.

Their transgender policy means nothing to me.

I would boycott target if I didn't already decide the store sucks. Oh well, maybe the next store that comes around with something like this I can boycott.
