I didn't bother to read every response, so forgive me if I repeat the obvious here, and that is that your entire premise that gays choose to be gay is wrong. First, saying that someone was born gay is just as nutty as saying that someone chose to be gay.

Omitting the hermaphrodite factor for now, all God's children are born the natural way, i.e. they are born straight.

You read another one of my responses to another post where I detailed a person's upbringing and traumatic background as being the impetus to their sexual preference. Well, nothing has changed since I wrote that piece. Environmental and traumatic experiences are the sole reason behind homosexual behavior. These people didn't 'chose' this lifestyle--they merely fell victims to their surroundings.

Gay men may haven chosen their professions after the fact, i.e. having a penchant to become ballerina dancers or hair stylists, but that was after their environment chose their particular sexual preference.

ah, and your research was done where? what would your theory be if you by chance came across someone , homosexual or lesbian, who had wonderful parents and a happy childhood.

Rather than accept my lengthy research of interviewing adult homosexuals as proof to their gay preference, I suggest you interview any adult male or female homos and get them to divulge their traumatic or life altering stories. My research credentials may not hold water with you since I do not have the proper medical schooling to sway you, thus the use of common sense coupled with my proven theory should dispel any silly notion that people were born gay.

Having wonderful loving parents does not always guarantee the child's sexual preference. Remember its their entire living environment that becomes key here. Those loving parents aren't with the child 24/7. In case you haven't noticed or witnessed this--there are bullies, rapists, murderers, traumatic events occurring outside the loving home arena, i.e. on the subways, at school, on the job, vacations etc. Some people are not as emotionally strong as others in warding off traumatic events.

you have done research on homosexuality.. thats wierd , because there are scientists who have been doing real research in controlled environment who are saying there is strong evidence for homosexuality being an inside job...
i have studied psychology for fourty years, i know a great many people who have gone through the traumas of life, gay and straight, and your theory doesnt hold up.....i myself have gone through life trauma...bullies,watched the attempted murder of my mom by my sister,been jailed, among other things, and am far from strong mentallly, been through two divorces, had one of my husbands molest my child......i'm straight as an arrow.
how do you account for this, as you would have it, anomoly? if this theory of yours was correct i should probably have 'turned' gay many years ago....

My life wasn't traumatic until after I became attracted to men. Have you ever felt sexual attraction kid? Do you really think it's something you choose? Since you're older and you have ptsd I doubt you'll ever learn from what I'm trying to say.

I did just as you suggested. I asked several of my gay friends (eight to be
exact) and their experiences fit with mine in this respect. We all had good,
happy upbringings with none of the traumatic episodes you claim must have
been there. All of us knew we were gay (or at least, that we liked boys) from
very early ages.

Strangely enough, this matches the accepted view of the medical
professionals who study these things without bias. Your view dates back to
the time when homosexuality was forced underground and problems arose
because of the resulting pressure and fear people were made to live with. No
wonder the only homosexuals medics ever saw had severe problems.

You may think the notion of being born gay "silly" (because it conflicts with
your religious views), but more and more evidence is coming in to support it
being reality.

Born gay--99% of the time. I had a friend who became a lesbian after she had been mistreated (an understatement) by men. Thus, she wasn't a true lesbian.

So, perfect childhood = Heterosexuality? Come on, that just doesn't hold water and you know it. There's no such thing as a perfect childhood. Every child goes through some kind of trauma to some degree.
Why is it only a small percentage are so affected that it actually changes their sexuality? Why aren't there MORE gays and lesbians?
If you're therory were actually worth it's weight in hot air, there would still be more homsexuals simply due to childhood trauma than you can believably explain.

I was never beaten by my parents, never sexually molested by anyone in my family or otherwise. So, explain to me again why I'm a lesbian?

I don't believe that people who are born with one anatomical gender and the opposite physiological gender (Transsexuality) choose it.

I don't believe that people who are genuinely physiologically 'wired' to be attracted to the same anatomical gender as there own, yet who still identify themselves as their anatomical gender, choose it.

My sister did choose it, however, as a result of abuse. Long story short she eventually got help for her issues and is now heterosexual again. I know a friend of the family in a similar situation aswell.

I had homosexual feelings until I decided to cast them out when I was about 11 or 12. I later came to understand that my feelings were the result of not bonding with a proper male role model.

Then there are Lesbian Feminists, a number of whom choose homosexuality out of some belief in queer theory.

IMO you can't simply lump everyone into one group.
To say that homosexuality is a choice is to say that born Transsexuality was chosen by the fetus. Utterly ridiculous.

To say that homosexuality is not a choice is to say that there is never sexual confusion during puberty, as a result of not bonding with a proper male role model or as a defensive response to abuse.

The nature of Gender Identity Disorder just isn't that simple.

Tell me, when did I make the choice to be gay? What morning did I wake up and say "self today your going to lead a life of ridicule, ostracism and rejection." I don't remember that day, but since you are so conviced I did choose it, you tell me when I made that decision.

I have had friends who's fathers were as moncho as they come and they turned out gay. I have had friends who had no father at home and they turned out straight. I've know people who had fathers at home that didn't really pay them any attention and they turned out straight.

What your saying is based in no fact at all. This is s supposition with no merit. What did you do? take a poll of all gay people and found out they chose to be gay?

what your calling "confusion" at puberty is nothing more than experimentation. I would say a lot of boys are curious about the changes going on with and in their bodies. in their attempt to learn and understand they notice the same changes in other boys and are just plan curious.

And FYI. If you had true homosexual feelings and not just urges to experiment, you can't cast those feelings out. Ignore them, yes. choose not to act on them, yes. But if they were true homosexual feelings, they are still with you. I know because I was told at a young age trusting in Jesus would take away those sinful feelings. Then, as I read the bible to reinforce my will to resist, I noticed Jesus did not say anything, pro or con about homosexuality and at that time I knew it was Jesus who did not agree with me, it was the people around me that did not understand me. when you say you "cast them out", it just makes me believe you had similar experiences.

My own personal beliefs.
I dislike "organized" religion. I was raised in a religiously open home amid a typical Irish Catholic extended family. My father worked in a culturally diverse media. I grew up accepting all faiths, but not accepting anyone to shove their personal beliefs on me.
Yes, I guess I do take liberty with traditionally Hebrew pronouns, but it's simply what I'm comfortable with. I will at times use Pagan, Latin, Greek, ancient Roman and even Hindi lilts as well.
I had a very close friend in high school who's family were Jewish. Their Grandpa accepted me as one of his own and taught me about their faith without forcing his beliefs on me. I felt very close to him, as if he were a great Uncle.
Many of the people I've known have come from a wide range of cultural and religious beliefs. Pentecostal, Catholic, Jewish, "Born Again" "{which do concider themselves their own religion}, Southern Baptist, Hindu, Greek Orthodox, Pagan, Taoist Budhist and Philippine Catholic...a few of the groups my friends and personal influences.

But, yes, I do concider myself an extremely spiritual person. I do have faith, I would not classify myself as atheist at all. Agnostic, to some degree..but not without faith.

Good lord! Iam a gay man with a partner. What is all the fuss? YES we ARE born different. It all starts in the womb. I will never lose sleep over a STR8 couple and what they do behind closed doors!
