Upon hearing that Barry Bonds just tied the Babe at 714 homeruns I just had to salute Bonds with a 3 BOO salute! One BOO for tying the Babe, one for Bonds when he hits number 715 and one just in case he hits homerun number 756 breaking Hank Aaron's record.

Personally, I can't stand the creep, I hope he sustains a career ending injury before he approaches Hank Aarons record of 755 homeruns.

LONG LIVE THE BABE!

Interleague San Francisco at Oakland Giants DH Barry Bonds hit his 714th career homerun in the 2nd inning, tying Babe Ruth's career homerun mark, 2nd on the all-time homerun list.

Bonds finally hits 714th home run to tie Ruth

OAKLAND, Calif. - Barry, meet the Babe.

Barry Bonds tied Babe Ruth for second place on the career list with his 714th home run Saturday, a shot into the right-field seats leading off the second inning against the Oakland Athletics...

Re: Boo! Boo! Boo!

Bonds didn't tie the Babe...Bonds hit MAYBE 400-500 HRs...drugs hit the rest of them.

Yeah, but then we have to remind ourselves...**** Babe Ruth. Don't get me wrong, **** Barry Bonds, but I really am not going to throw a hissy fit over protecting one of that fat drunk's records.

Huge difference. Ruth hit his runs DESPITE being regularily impaired...he might have hit a couple hundred more if he hadn't been such a boozer.

Bonds, on the other hand, hit his with HELP from steroids...he wouldn't have hit nearly as many without performance enhancing chemical assistance.

I saw this sign in one of the stadiums...

"Ruth hit his on hotdogs and beer."

Oh I don't care about that.

When Babe Ruth called his shot, do you know what stadium he had the GALL to pull that **** in? Wrigley Field, that mother****er walked into Wrigley ****ing Field and called his shot, and he will rot in hell for all of eternity for doing that (not to mention it was the last time the Cubs were in the World Series). So **** that fat dead drunk up his fat dead drunk asshole!

I like you, Galen, but isn't it a bit out of decorum for a mod team member to be speaking like this?

Can I get away with calling Stinger names like this? Or do I have to direct the names to his dead relatives to avoid banning?

Turn away from the darkness, and be a STL fan...after all, we have, quite possibly, the greatest baseball player ever on our team..Albert Pujols.

Seems to me that you have a personal problem with the BABE, your hatred of Ruth it seems stems from pure jealousy because viewing it from a logical standpoint you really have no rational reason for pationately hating the Babe.

NOW, Bonds is a different story, there are at least a million heartfelt reasons for anyone hating Barry Bonds.

First and foremost is that Bonds is a racist, second, Bonds is a sore loser, a cheater, a bad sport, foul-mouthed, disrespectful, unapologetic, a showoff, a drugy, a liar, a thief (he steals bases doesn't he?) etc, etc, etc!

With the long drought of homeruns prior to Big Mac & Sammy So-So MLB was failing in the general public's eye. The homeruns equal fans in the stands (& that's the bottom line). Most people don't really like to see a pitching duel (although, I personally love it). They want to see runs - & especially homeruns. The climate & culture made steroid use an obvious solution. Now, that we got what we wanted (homeruns) the public acts all disgusted towards the way it happened. The record books don't mean that much to me. It was a different time in Ruth's day as well as Aaron's day. Athletes are better today (hitters, pitchers, etc) than yesterday. Besides the use of steroids they generally train better & eat better. And, most of them are far better role models than Ruth, Cobb or Mantle. Although it's the butthead who gets all the negative press today. Ruth, Cobb & Mantle didn't get the negative press players today get (they didn't get it until they were long gone from the public eye in biographical movies & books). A steroid user still has to see the ball & make contact with it. While the steroids might give a little more power to the hitter it doesn't make them see the ball any better. When Bonds approaches 755 maybe then there might be something to talk about. Right now it's about 2nd place for crying out loud.

With the Bonds deal - have they actually caught him on a drug test or anything? I know there's something about some supplements he was taking & not knowing there may have been an illegal substance in them. I think that company is under investigsation; maybe even going to be prosecuted for some sort of wrong doing...?...(some info would be great - I don't really know all the ins & outs of the issue). I guess my point is if he hasn't been busted/caught in a drug test --- get off his back. If he has --- then baseball should act seriously on it. BUT, that would stop the controversey & lead to a decline in baseball attendence. Sad but true...
